At first I thought it is just another generic shooter.The orange tinted graphics and imperfect combat system was not helping but I still decided to continue after reading some reviews about the excellent story.I guess that was a mistake.Some parts of the game are really really heartbreaking.I should have stopped at the very beginning.It's like what Konrad said in the ending,"None of this would have happened if you just stopped!" But then again I am glad to experience this masterpiece.I think the main point the game tries to make is 'glorification of war in video games'.It kinda mocks us for wanting to play hero in a game about shooting the bad guys to death and complete our mission like what we do in other mindless shooters,again and again.Which is not always the case in real wars.The terrible ♥♥♥♥ we were slowly forced to do in the game world actually happen in real life.War crimes are real.For some people or soldiers,the things walker(the protagonist) faces are real and they can't go home. or do anything about it.They are stuck in that reality with the concequences unlike us who can just get out of the game after messing up and seek excuses to detach our responsibility(like I did by blaming the game for not giving choices).Anyway You know a game is good when players have thoughts like these.Where they question if they should keep playing or if what they did was their fault.
Definitely one of the best shooter games ever made,yeah just for the immersive and great story. There needs to be more impactful games like this one.
