It needs work... But the game as it stands at the moment is an amazing template for what I think is to come from this title. It's simulated cities and crimes are great but more needs to be done to make this a truly great simulator. I am onboard so far, and I hope the Devs take this as far as it can go.

*EDIT* That said, for the last 2 or so days I have played this I have come into game breaking bugs. The AI is slow, the combat needs massive amounts of work if it's to be effective. Otherwise I would love it if there was no combat at all and the Devs focused all there time on making a good detective sim. The worse side of it is that 2 times my save has been corrupted and unable to load. Cameras and vents are in bizarre places and some are out of reach. The ability to open things silently would be great only if your character has to spend more time opening them. And the stealth mechanics are so dull and broken that it makes some cases unplayable.

All that said, its still an ambitious title and I love the concept.

Early Access Review
So far this is a solid base for a great game. It is after all Early Access so I don't understand why people are not recommending this when it functions, has little performance issues, and has everything it's advertised. The polish certainly isn't there... YET. But it's far from unplayable and deserves to be an Early Access title. The roadmap and plan they have set is achievable and after the first Kerbal we know this team takes the project of Kerbal very seriously. Personally I can't wait to explore more of space, do missions and tasks and see what new things they give us to play around with. I can absolutely recommend this title if you want to jump in early and play with the sandbox while we wait for the next set of content, science and tech trees!

There is some architecture of a good game here, but frankly I can't play anymore after the fist Kemono you fight. It was nothing but a low frame rate mess. The memory issue is so bad that I died 3 times on this tutorial Kemono. There are those who say it's a great game, but there seems to be an overwhelming number of people with the same low frame issues as I am having. At this point I can't recommend it.

The game really appeals to me in terms of its art, the simply combat and the cool skills. However all of that is overshadowed by again, SO much cool ♥♥♥♥ that is behind a Item shop. And the greed is REAL! With some items costing over $15 for a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sprite set! This game is greedy as greedy can be. I would say just buy the base game and have some fun with the content it gives. But all the expansion packs, on top of item shop goodies is WAY to aggressive. The developers seem to be milking this for all its worth with little effort.

Again the technical problems and lack of innovation destroy the game. The greed is disgusting, with advertisements and FUT front and centre while all the single player content is menus and menus deep. Every year this game finds way to be more predatory.

If your after a simple survival zombie game with a decent story and amazing world/sound design. Pick it up.

Don't expect any ground breaking survival elements, like food, hunger, weapon jamming or high stress situations outside of getting overwhelmed a bit here and there. It's mechanics are fairly simple and it does it well. Regrettably, Bend Studio pitched to SONY the concept of a Days Gone 2 but SONY shelved the idea in 2021 which is hard to swallow considering all the mechanics in this game seem to me at least, to be concepts for a more refined title.

In any case, we got what we got. And what we got is this. And this is pretty bloody good.

Nostalgia is a powerful emotion. This is the only turn-based strategy game that is faithful to the 90s' Heroes of Might and Magic series. More so than any Heroes of Might and Magic after 3. In fact I would say even in early access this game is more complete, polished and devoted to the turn-based strategy than any turn-based strategy I have played in recent years that has tried (and failed) to push the Might and Magic formula. The developers at Lavapotion really have the same love for Heroes of Might and Magic 2 & 3 as I do, and I can absolutely see it. But what really blows me away is the artwork that complements and pushes that M&M aesthetic further than ever before, JUST INCREDIBLE! Like its no joke, from the screenshots you would think its just pixel art, but its SO much more. Lavapotion, you have my money and my support all the way with this project. And thank you so much for allowing us the Map Editor right out of the box and giving us more freedom than ever to create our own adventures! This is the true successor to Heroes of Might and Magic 3.

It's such a shame that this sort of turn-based strategy doesn't get the recognition that it deserves, like an Xcom or Total War release. The graphical style alone sells me on this, but the game play just takes it beyond nostalgia and back to pure enjoyment.

I cannot wait to see how much they add to this game and what direction they take with it. DLC and now factions, magic, units, map editing tools and regions! Keep it up Lavapotion!
