This is the game me and all my friends were waiting for. No multiplayer. No live service. No BS. Just customizing and racing on an open highway. Playing this takes me back to the 2000s as a kid when the racing genre was an industry juggernaut.

This is one of those games where I wish there was a meh button. I put do not recommend because while there is a great game at it's heart, it's buried by endless glaring issues. You have to get past the pacing that's as slow as molasses, the (still) terrible performance, the barren multiplayer, and the limited car selection to get to the great handling model and the detailed open world.

It's more than likely you'd have more fun in the other big three open world racing series: forza horizon, The crew, and need for speed. However, if you're a fan of the test drive unlimited series, the core experience and gameplay loop is still there, and with a much better driving model than tdu2 had.

I recommend waiting a while for this game to receive more updates. I find the performance unacceptable. You shouldn't have to need a high end 40 series card to play with a stable 60 fps.

Perfect in almost every way

I've played hundreds of hours on this game on almost every platform it came out on. I still recommend it. People are saying this game is crashing for them, but it's not for me. I have a Ryzen 3700x, a 3060ti, and 16 gb of ram, and it hasn't crashed even once for me. There are a few minor bugs here and there, mostly audio related, but the game plays perfectly fine. Grab it if it's on sale, which it does very often.

This game is charming as heck, and it's lots of fun. The handling model is arcadey, but fun. The physics are bonkers, which kind of adds to the charm anyway. There's plenty to do, plenty to explore, and lots of cars and builds to play with. The servers are still up as of writing this review, which is very nice.

If you like Yakuza, you will like this.
