I just finished my first play-through at 36 hours and now consider this game one of my favorites! There was a bit of a performance issue when it came to the jump scare moments, but I was caught off-guard regardless (for the most part). Combat was unique and made the experience not only action-packed, but also artistic and cinematic. While combat was enjoyable, it can be improved by reducing the amount of dodging Jacob could perform. Blocking was not as useful as damage was not mitigated enough at level 2 (not sure of the effectiveness at level 3). I am left wondering if fighting can be made better by introducing enemy stagger upon a successful block, a stamina limitation, and less "stickiness" during one on ones (it seemed difficult to turn around and run away sometimes). While I had my criticisms regarding combat, it was not enough for me to put the game down and that is where the negatives stop. Art, atmosphere, and storytelling were all exceptional aspects of the game. I found myself walking, crouching, crawling, and shimmying through stages as opposed to running through everything. I found it worthwhile to have explored alternate/optional paths that rewarded me with loot to upgrade my skills and weapons with. I loved experiencing the story unfold during cut scenes, audio logs, and dialogue which affected my immersion to a level like never before. Even as I write this review, it is giving me chills just thinking about what unfolded and great hope and excitement for the next installment of The Callisto Protocol. My experience on a scale would be 9 out of 10--I will definitely replay!

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice has opened my eyes to a new way of gaming. I've been a shooter gamer for quite a while now and this story-driven psychological warfare was both new to me and blew my mind! I had that feeling of not wanting to play the game beause of how real it was regarding a severe mental illness (and a little bit of the horror aspect) but I kept picking it back up anyway until I finished it. If you enjoy story telling and love "feeling" a game, you won't be disappointed.

As the protagonist, Henry is left to deal with the responsibility of taking care of his ill wife and reconstructing his broken heart. As a gamer who mostly plays First-Person Shooters, Firewatch was a breath of fresh air. Never have I ever been so emotionally involved with the plot of a videogame that everytime I picked up the gamepad, I felt like a part of the story. Not once did FIrewatch let me down, in fact---the tension kept building up with every day that went by. I highly recommend this game to any one who feels like playing a bigger part in a videogame than just being the player. Give it a try if you want to feel what it is like to be in an emotionally conflicted man's shoes.
