Backed this game on Kickstarter, it's really come a long way. Armello is an absolute gem of a game. A digital board game featuring lovable animal characters trying to dethrone a corrupted king and claim the throne for their clan. Mechanics are well thought out, and the game is regularly updated with new and improved systems to add additional depth while not making the game overly complex or confusing. There are multiple ways to win, which helps keep a single person from dominating the match, though the game is quite RNG-based, relying on dice rolling for battles, card drawing, procedurally generated board, semi-randomized quests, and a few other mechanics. Sometimes even with excellent strategy, the luck of the draw can't be overcome.

Still, an excellent game I never get bored of.

Game length: 1-2 hours

Pros:
+ Beautiful and unique style and graphics featuring anthropomorphic animals
+ Great soundtrack
+ Procedurally generated board means every game will be different
+ Multiple ways to claim victory, to stop a single player from dominating and blocking others from winning
+ Interesting and unique systems for combat, bounties, and 'traps'
+ Each character has a unique hero power that makes them different from other heroes
+ Each hero can be further customized to your playstyle with a selection of rings (exclusive to clans) and amulets (available to all heros)
+ 'Microtransactions' handled very well and very positively for everyone. Dice skins can be found in chests and traded or sold on the Steam market, which the Devs get a cut of when an item sells on the market.
+ Updated fairly regularly with new and enhanced systems
+ Devs are very attentive to bugs and glitches and do their best to solve them as soon as they can
+ Promotes public play with a chest and key system, in which both chests AND keys drop
+ Custom rule settings for private games
+ Can play a single-player match while waiting for a game (though queues are rarely very long), tab on taskbar will flash when you find a game while queued is you don't want to play singleplayer

Cons:
- RNG-based, sometimes too much
- Some hero's powers are almost useless, while others are very powerful
- Private play doesn't give you keys or chests, making those who prefer to play only with friends unrewarded and left out (though the keys and chests only contain cosmetic dice skins, so it's not a mechanical disadvantage)
- Currently a set of 4 exclusive Kickstarter heroes, though anyone playing in a private game with someone who owns them can use them, they can only be used in private games, and the Devs have stated they will be released as DLC for anyone to purchase eventually
- Only way to communicate is through a set of 'commands', such as Hello, Good-bye, etc. No voice or text chat.
- DLC is a little pricey, especially in comparison to the full game (the set of 4 DLC heroes is $10, 2 board skins are $5).

I can't enjoy this game. I love board games (traditional as well as digital) but you don't actually do anything in this game but press 'roll' every so often and watch as the characters walk around. You only get cards when you land on a green space, and besides playing cards (which aren't common), the only human interaction is choosing which direction you go at a fork and choosing whether or not to fight players. It's incredibly dull, there's not even interesting events or a mini-game at the end of each turn. So yeah, I can't reccomend the game, it's just a bad system.

This game has potential to be really good, but it's so obscenely broken that I can't in good heart recommend it to anyone. I would've actually asked for a refund for this if I hadn't bought the four-pack, it's that broken. I've only been able to get through 2 games without crashing so far. It's fun when it works, but it doesn't work often. :/
