I expected this game to better after the update, but I didn't expect it to be this good. It's now a MUCH more polished game, bordering on AAA status but not quite there yet.

Some mechanics are still clunky and feel glued together (why do I have TWO scanners that scan for different things?), the interface is very hard to get used to - especially on PC, and space stations still feel lifeless and weird and frustrating to navigate.

But I finally feel I can recommend it to friends who enjoy this genre of open-ended games (Minecraft, Terraria).
As long as it is still at 50% discount, that is.

I like this game. This is really something else. Don't wait for it to go on sale, it's too good for that
