A faithfully-done remaster! True to the original, and adapted with love. Amazing graphics, improved UI, fantastic soundtrack- I can't say enough about how wonderfully this was executed.

There's been a lot of discussion about the tweaks that were made, such as Bosco's new voice actor and a handful of line changes, but as to how it impacts the game as a whole, it's truly nothing of consequence. This game came out 14 years ago, and as a result, changes are inevitable! Given how it's been a decade since we've seen anything for this series at all, I feel as though a sensitivity to change is expected. I think that because it's been so long, these minor changes seem to be more prominent than they truly are.

After all, we've remembered this game the exact same way for the past 14 years! This is shiny and new, but it certainly came about very suddenly.

Maybe some feel shocked by the differences because they wish to preserve something that brought fond memories a long time ago. From that viewpoint, that can make very minor stuff feel like a complete overhaul! I get that. When changes happen for reasons you might not agree with, maybe that can lead you to feel betrayed. I think some people feel upset about it because they feel as if Sam and Max is being turned into something it's not, for the sake of appeasing the attitudes of today.

Maybe some people even felt that way about the *original* game.

..But in truth, it's just as great as it's always been! These changes don't compromise the integrity of our boys, or the story, or the series' affinity for dark humor as a whole. It doesn't even compromise the integrity of a cashier at an inconvenience store. It's just a little bit different and new, just like every iteration that this series has ever had. I don't think the changes were made to appease *anybody.* Other than our retinas, that is. Can't get enough of that updated lighting!

I think that some parts of the original game were a part of its time. That's an overused phrase, I know, but it's true! In turn, I think that what we see here is a product of today as well. Is it inherently worse, or inherently better? That's subjective! Who's to say. I think one look at this review section is more than enough to show that everyone feels differently about it. And honestly? Things will be different in 14 years from now, too, because change is inevitable, and people will feel divided about that just like we are now.

Lord knows, given their reputation, that Sam and Max will still be here.

So ultimately, I don't agree with people belittling others for being upset about it, because I think some folks might just be scared. When you really care about something, you want the people cleaning it up to do it right. And, ultimately, I think they did!

If there's anything I hope to get across with this review, it's this- I don't think that the changes Skunkape made compromise the integrity of Save the World. I don't think they affect the game at all! It's just different, and I think that can be okay.

I once overheard someone mention how every iteration in this series was made with love. Everybody who worked on it really cared about making something great, from the original comics to Hit The Road to the Telltale games. I think that this remaster is no different. Prior to this game's release, I attended some streams featuring the devs. This team worked on Hit the Road, along with the original Telltale games. They were always talking about how excited they were to fix *this* detail, or improve *that* detail, or improve *this* aspect of gameplay, and, I could go on. The heart behind this game is incredibly clear. The attention to detail, the heart, and the effort that's been put into this is incredibly clear, and that's what makes this game a good time.

So while criticism and recommendations for improvement are always necessary, I think we shouldn't be so quick to completely discredit something new, on the grounds of minor details. Ten years is a lot of time spent out of the loop, and when it comes to the long-awaited return of a series we all love, I don't feel as though reactionary attitudes and snap judgements are the best course of action. I'll be moving ahead with enthusiasm in mind!

Thank you for making something great, Skunkape! I'm looking forward to what the future holds. :-)
