Gave this game it's chance, but I should've bailed when I started having doubts about whether I was going to have fun with this in the long run.

This game just plays itself for 70% of the time. When you're not in the actual heat of battle with a monster, it's just a kiddie safari on rails that takes you from point A to point B automatically while you pick stuff up with the clutch claw.

The mechanics of the game are also just an absolute wash, and figuring out how to disable most of them are an uphill battle that's just generally not worth the pain. Like trying to figure out how to prevent the Seikret from shuttling you immediately to destinations, to figuring out how to make it so you don't automatically lock on to a monster.

The monsters are also disappointingly easy. Just with the base weapon from the first monster, I was melting everything the game threw me in the first chapter. And I honestly don't want to continue on from there.

I get times change, I get appealing to a broader audience, and I at least have the older games. But it's time for Monster Hunter to move on without me.
