really cool, CAVE-like shmup with 3 difficulty levels, a mission mode with a bunch of fun objectives, multiple banging soundtracks and A-tier game design.

happens to be the perfect recommendation for beginners of that particular style: normal mode is hard enough to give some challenge, easy enough to not discourage anyone. hyper mode, it turns out, is not that difficult either, and is a lot of fun.

After releasing one of the best shoot 'em ups in history, System Erasure picks a total opposite genre - turn-based puzzle game - and displays utter mastery and total deconstruction of that genre as well. Don't ask how I know...

I have a hard time conceiving the idea of such a one-two punch made by only two finnish game developers ; even less believable is how they haven't blew up yet. Surely there will be a time when System Erasure gets the recognition it deserves, placed along the all-time greats of the indie world like Studio Pixel, Madeline Thorson, Toby Fox/Temmie Chang, and others. Until then, we live in an unjust world.

i've spent dozens of hours into the early access builds, and got to see the evolution since v0.0.0.1. definitely, the game has shaped up to be the closest it gets in terms of skateboard simulation yet, with some replays/clips feeling scarily like real life (for what i can see, i don't know how a skateboard works)
so for f'ing around in the maps, looking for skate spots and playing with them, there's very little quite like it.

unfortunately, someone or something decided to package what is essentially another early access build, bumped up the price and called it "1.0". do not be fooled by this, the game is not finished in the slightest.

most of the glitches and jank is still there : trying to use late tricks with manual landing will result in a one-foot for every single trick. grinds pop out direction is completely inconsistent, it doesn't matter if your board is at a 45° angle, if the game thinks you're doing a nosegrind, popping out at 45° will result in a kickflip instead of a regular pop out (this happens way too often to not be noted)
the sky has this weird circle thing for no reason, the missions' difficulty curve is complete haphazard, and the board likes to get stuck on seemingly nothing at low speeds.

this is a negative review mostly because, well, this is supposed to be a release candidate, when this has at bare minimum 3 more years of work to get it to shape. where it stands, while i like the game's skating and will praise the dev team's effort so far, i cannot recommend this game, as i cannot in good conscience condone what seems to be an abuse of the early access system by releasing an unfinished product as retail.
i will follow creäture studios' advancement in this project, and maybe pick up the game again if there are significant changes, but this release has left me a bit saddened that this is how it was, and the reception that this game will get (no matter how deserved) might hamper any hope of this game flourishing into a fully-fledged product.
