I have enjoyed playing KSP since 0.9 and it literally changed my life and made me change my major to astrophysics in college. I remember giggling like an idiot when ♥♥♥'s ship survived reentry for the first time after atmospheric friction was introduced by using heat shields. As a kid who grew up in China, where news and achievements of NASA rarely reach and people like Karl Sagan are unheard of, I like to think that KSP opened my eyes to this field and inspired me to pursue a career in the stars.

However, after hundreds of hours of playing it, modding it, and dreaming about things I can do in it, I can no longer recommend this game to players who do not already own it before its acquisition by Take Two Interactive.

Although the ridiculously invasive EULA seems to have been changed in the newest versions due to community backlash (the "spyware" still remains in the legacy versions in official beta channels), the devs, under Take Two, continue to rip open source mods from the community into PAID expansions without citing or even acknowledging the original authors of the mods that made the game so much more than what it was. I am deeply saddened by the fact that the once wacky indie game by Squad that steered me into academia has resorted to plagiarism under the directions of Take Two Interactive.

Edit:
I want to clarify that I think the game itself is amazing and I'm not discouraging people from playing it, just from paying Take Two. There are many other ways to obtain the game.

Regarding my playtime, yes steam only logged a few hours of play. I bought the game from squad and only bought a second copy on steam when it went on sale recently.

Piracy is stealing a boat.

As a private citizen in a nonprofit capacity corporate copyright laws do not apply to you.

You may choose to pay for a game or not as you see fit and that choice does not impact your ability to use that software in a nonprofit capacity.

Are you suggesting piracy? I would never ever pirate any game ever. I would never condone pirating a game instead of giving that money to the greedy dirt-bag publishers. I would never inform people that the developers are already paid, so buying this game on steam does not give them money but the publisher money. I went on reddit's /r/piracy and saw that they had instructions for how to do it and I was DISGUSTED. The fact that people think it's okay to steal is beyond me. Don't go to that subreddit and don't support those thieves. Support the publisher instead even though they're probably the ones who pushed the developers to plagiarize their game content.

Wait, i am thinking of buying this and have a question. Is the EULA still invasive (such as wants my IP address, name etc.) or has it changed? and if it has moved away from this would anyone (please be honest and not just because u like it) recommend the game right now as it is 75% off? Thanks!

Lordy, you guys do realize shit talking this guy into the ground for making a lengthy comment on how this game upset him won't make him want to change his mind? Just make a polite comment correcting him, but still respect his opinion. Quit calling him names and all that, it doesn't accomplish anything.

The EULA was changed you twat, and no mods were even made into the DLC some mods were kind of integrated into the game like KER and the precision orbiting system, but those were at a much higher quality than the mod versions
