Hotline of the Colossus

Simply a beautiful, intelligent game. It's not afraid to respect the player's intelligence, whether in its puzzle rooms or in its discussions on the philosopy of mind. Croteam has proven that they're good for more than just old-school shooters.

Imagine a maso-core version of Portal, only with Tron-inspired visuals. As mentioned in other reviews, the game rewards speed-running (in fact, there's a timer right there on your gun). However, each level has its fair share of collectibles -- text logs to fill in the backstory, songs for the soundtrack, etc. -- to reward players willing to experiment and leave the obvious path.

DeadCore isn't very long, but I assure you that you'll get your $10 worth of entertainment out of it.
