Easily one of the best video game soundtracks. It's a fantastic deal on or off sale, especially if you've played the game!

Most of my playtime in Risk Of Rain 2 was spent with friends, on Discord voice chat. Having a strategy for which class (or player) gets which upgrades can have great results - coordinated play will give you plenty of time to enjoy the level designs, loot and spawn mechanics, and the gameplay differences between the characters. Solo play - or last-player-alive play - is a completely different experience, and feels sparse or incomplete compared to the full group multiplayer experience. Highly recommended if you'll be playing with a friend or in a group!

This is a party game best played with friends who don't take things too seriously. Voice chat strongly recommended!

I'm recommending this game based on the strength of the first part of it, up to the Normandy. Great space mechanics, feeling like you have a body and aren't a disembodied camera is pretty huge, and while the humor can be terrible garbage it's generally inoffensive (though when it is offensive, damn, it doesn't hold back, and is probably worth a miss on those grounds alone). By the time you make it to the Normandy you'll probably be out of the refund period, so the fact that everything after it feels rushed, empty, poorly designed and complete only in the most literal sense might rankle you. I bought the game when it was still EA and ended at the aforementioned point, though, and I think it's worth checking out if you think of it as ending there. Everything after? Hypoxia.

I have mixed feelings about this game - I acquired it while it was still in early access and loved it at that time, though successive updates cranked up the difficulty... which was pretty dang vertical to begin with. Usually that's enough for a thumbs down from me though I'm making an exception in this case as Griftlands is a real gem in every other respect - the art direction is fantastic, I'd love to know more about the world, and I'd love it if the "argument" mechanic was picked up and built on by other developers. If you like card-based gameplay this is a must own; if that's not something you have much experience with the game is still worth checking out.

I haven't played much of this, but I think I've played enough to recommend it. The atmosphere is a HUGE part of the game; if you like what you see in gameplay trailers then you'll enjoy moving through the game world under your own direction. A very chill experience, perfect for a rainy day.

Suffers from the same "combat is a rythm game" design mentality as the earlier Remember Me. Spongey enemies and repetitive environments produced diminishing returns that ultimately quashed any interest I may have had in the story.

Take that with a massive grain of salt - vampires generally aren't my thing. If they're a special interest of yours then that might be enough to carry the game for you.

If you still have the original and want a classic run-and-gun fix, well... the old game loads faster and has a more consistent atmosphere. If you've only ever played the shareware version then you'll want this, as it comes with the original soundtrack - still some of the best atmospheric music in gaming. Easily worth it on sale, just for the nostalgia value.

If you're here for the story and the "what if Firefly and Fallout got flirty?" atmosphere, you'll find a lot to enjoy with The Outer Worlds. If you loved Fallout: New Vegas, well... you may be disappointed, as it's very difficult to avoid comparing the two games, and The Outer Worlds comes up short on gameplay, depth, and variety of customization and equipment. It's a miss for me, albeit a near one.
