Played the sh*t out of it when I was younger, this really got me into gaming, RPGs and The Elder Scrolls lore. I have it on Steam but obviously my playtime here doesn't reflect how much time I spent in Cyrodil.
:summer2019mushroom: The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
Tried it after Oblivion and it was just too clunky to play. It was also the first game I tried to install mods for (which was an absolute pain in the a*s xD).

The last chapter I played was Morrowind and it'll prolly stay that way. MMOs are exhausting.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

One of the worst games I've ever played. It's not well crafted. And in that regard Skyrim is like any other Bethesda game: notorious for its bugs, missing the level of depth you'd want from this kind of game, stories which could have had impact are not explored further, a lot of the npcs are quite bland, combat isn't fluent etc etc - in short: wasted potential.

Yet somehow it is still one of my favourite games. I genuinely enjoy my time in Skyrim. I have made some nice memories surrounding the game. I still often talk to my friends about it, I love when they send me Skyrim memes or we share silly stories...

And I keep coming back to it. Sometimes to crawl through dungeons for a day, sometimes to min max a full set of enchanted dragonplate/-scale armour and sometimes just to pluck a few flowers and wander through the forest. Either way it keeps me distracted from real life worries and creates this space where I can be a powerful dragonborn meant to slay dragons just running around doing silly sh*t if I want.

So to conclude: Skyrim is overrated af. Not just in the community but by me personally too. It's really really not that good of a game. But it keeps bringing me joy. So why not savour that?
