After the linear path of Remake, the world opens up a lot more in Rebirth. Exploration isn't on par with The Witcher 3 or Breath of the Wild, but it's still a lot of fun.

The core gameplay is a lot of fun and the story is interesting, if a bit generic. It really scratches the old Baldur's Gate / Infinity Engine itch. The difficulty curve can be a bit uneven and doesn't always feel balanced, but that isn't a dealbreaker. My only real complaint is that the macOS version has a major bug where mouse clicks frequently register on the wrong layer of the UI, with all sorts of weird effects. According to various forums, this bug is fixed in D:OS 2, but Larian chose not to back port the fix into D:OS EE, which is a real disappointment.

I don't know of another game where you can find perfectly comfy spots to curl up for a nap, precisely because a nap sounds good and not to fill some red bar up.

The white knuckle, in the driver's seat view is absolutely addictive. The courses are fun and varied. Best of all, it actually runs well on my 2018 MacBook Pro.

I played in VR and the experience there is absolutely amazing. Looking around from inside your X-Wing cockpit to see which direction a TIE is going is natural and the most immersive flight experience I've ever had in a game. If you grew up wanting to be a pilot for the Rebellion, this game is the closest you'll get. My only issue is that with an SSD and 8GB RAM there are times where the game hiccups streaming in assets, which definitely breaks immersion.

Far Cry 5 is a great game in the Far Cry tradition and the environment is absolutely beautiful. My only complaint is that the launch and configuration of the game are pretty glitchy. It wouldn't work at all on my 5k screen until I scaled the desktop resolution down. Definitely play it, but don't be surprised if you hit a few snags before the fun starts.

*The* killer app for VR. As a bonus, you don't need super powerful hardware to play it.

This game is short, but beautiful and emotional. If you want to see a game tell a story in a way that no other medium can, absolutely play What Remains of Edith Finch.

Stardew Valley is a fantastic achievement for an indie developer. While there are occasionally glitches (mostly associated with my Steam Controller and 5k screen), the experience is generally very smooth. It's open-ended in a way that means my 4 y/o, 8 y/o and I all have a lot of fun with it. While there is a little violence, it is refreshing to play a game where hardwork and cooperation are emphasized. The 16-bit era pixel art makes me feel warm and fuzzy. Buy it, especially if it's on sale.
