Note: This review applies specifically to the paid PC version of Among Us.

0/10 literally unplayable. I mean actually, literally, legitimately unplayable. On the 1% chance you connect to a game, leavers decide the outcome, Save money and play on your phone. At least the game itself is alright during the 1% of time it's working correctly.

I've scoured the internet searching for an experience anything at all like Antichamber, and I've yet to find anything that comes even remotely close. The game's unique style is only the first layer on the spiral into another world that is playing Antichamber. There is no way to recommend this game enough.

9.5/10. This is quite literally one of the best stories I've ever seen. Not the best, but it's up there. Is it cheesy? Yes. Is it sappy? Yes. Is is filled with way to many anime cliches that try too hard to be funny by being self-aware? Maybe. All of this works, though, in some way it all comes together and Just Works(TM). But my favorite thing about this story is the fact that I never quite could guess exactly what was going to happen and how. Sure some things became apparent before they happened, like SPOILER and SPOILER SPOILERING, but everything I could guess was properly foreshadowed and never in a suepr-obvious way. The juxtaposition of happy and sad, funny and serious, really comes to play to make this game feel much like real life, although a somewhat idealistic and quirky version. There are many free-to-play VNs with donation options, and I wish this was one of them.

805/10, like The Wolf Among Us with Windows XP.

For real though, Emily is Away is one of those games wherein there's no reall goal or gameplay, but rather a story that you change through your choices. Unlike a traditional VN, you're not trying to get in anyone's pants or become student body president, you're simply chatting away with Emily. In the one playthrough I've done thus far, I accidentally got drunk and hooked up with Emily, which then ruined my friendship, and eventually, I lost control as the dialogue options I chose were erased and overridden. Now I want to go back and see just what would happen if I chose "no alcohol". And that's what Emily is Away is: a game of "what if I just changed that ONE thing?"

For $20: 4/10. Great graphics, fun gameplay, more freedom than usual, and decent challenge, Collectibles and side-ops round it out, but leave much to be desired in this 1-mission game. I just don't feel that there's quite enough content for the price.

On sale for $5: 11/10. Great graphics, fun gameplay, more freedom than usual, and decent challenge, Collectibles and side-ops round it out, and there's a stellar amount of content for the price.

Pros:

It's funny

It's free

Realiistic simulations of YouTube Comments

Cons:

Obvious BAD END choices

Realistic simulaitons of YouTube Comments

You could play the whole game in the time it takes Dora the Explora to stare at you before answering her own quesiton.

Summary:

All in all, a fun little ditty. It's definitely as far to the "novel" side of visual novels as you can go, but it's a good way to kill 18 nanoseconds. What really baffles me about this game is the presence of FIFTEEN save slots when the entire game can be completed twice while microwaving a hot pocket. Maybe the dev has plans for DLC that will expand it to multiple minutes, who knows?
