Jono Skilton froze in math class, heart racing. The problem wasn’t on the board it was the stiffy under his desk. Shanty, the girl he liked, had walked by, perfume lingering, his body betrayed him.

He stared straight ahead, praying no one noticed. He tried every trick in the book: multiplication tables, thinking about cold showers, even imagining the cafeteria’s mystery meat. Nothing worked.

The bell rang, panic set in. He couldn’t stand up like this. Pretending to rummage in his bag, he waited for the class to leave.

“Jono, you good?” Kevin called from the door.

“Yeah, just looking for something!” he replied, voice cracking.

Once the room cleared, Jono yanked his hoodie down, shuffled awkwardly to the door, and slipped into the hallway, face burning. No one seemed to notice, but he knew he’d never look at math or Shanty the same way again.

Pubic lice are very small (2mm long) and grey-brown in colour.

Other symptoms of pubic lice include:

itching, which is usually worse at night
small red or blue spots on your skin (lice bites)
white/yellow dots attached to your hair (lice eggs)
dark red or brown spots in your underwear (lice poo)
crusted or sticky eyelashes, if they're affected
