Relaxing game with quite a few free puzzles. Has some extreme technical jank at times, though

Very sweet visual novel by ebi-hime. I really loved the author's notes at the end, which talk about the history and how it was adjusted.

A wonderful game with near endless content - and good content at that.

Pros

Movement system: move faster than is entirely necessary while using a nicely fleshed-out system for said movement.
Variety: both in frames to use and in weapons. 34 frames currently available, each with their own set of skills and more on the way. Over 100 different weapons with distinct ways of functioning.
Community: one of the nicest communities in gaming, probably due to being primarily PvE
Dev communication: weekly streams with staff and bi-weekly streams showing off what they are working on.

Cons

Overwhelming introduction: many of the systems are not terribly well explained in-game. If you need help, ask in chat or consult the wiki.
Landfill design: not quite, but it does seem like some of the systems were added and then not really fixed/fleshed out.
PvP: functional, but nothing special. The community has largely abandoned these modes
Inventory: a little clunky to manage, with a restrictive number of slots to hold new weapons and frames. This is remedied by either paying money (possible to do at a reasonable rate) or by trading with other players.

Overall a fantastic game. Highly recommended to try out. What do you have to lose. It is free.

This game is definitely worth a try (it is free), but it suffers from some basic issues that make this little more than a fun idea.

Pros
  • Great soundtrack
  • Interesting game mechanic that is still simple to understand
  • Cool art style
Cons
  • Alt-tabbing from full-screen often crashes the game
  • Rookie platformer coding mistakes - e.g. hitting the bottom or sides of platforms makes you immediately start falling and disables double-jump
  • Long time from falling/getting hit to being able to interact again. If you fall off of the map, it takes a while before you hit the kill zone. Getting hit by an enemy makes you fall and lay on the ground for a good second or so.
  • Soundtrack is a single fairly short loop that could get annoying if the game gives you any trouble in parts
  • The jumping sound is a little too obtrusive for something that happens so frequently
Overall, this game is worth checking out, but has a few too many basic issues to let the game function correctly. If the issues were fixed in the sequel, I can highly recommend it as an interesting platformer, but if the first one were charging money as it currently is, it would not be worth it.
