Excellent follow up to The Room. I loved the first room here, and I thought the seance room was particularly great as well.

Wonderful game. If you enjoy Myst/Oblivion or escape rooms. You're going to love it. Only 5 chapters. Probably 90 minutes to 4 hours depending on how fast you can move through it.

Two pieces of background that are important to potential buyers:

1. I was never a fan of pinball. My buddy took me to this $10-play-all-day-arcade (with a bar in it) and I ended up playing this pinball game called 'Monster Bash'. I was hooked at 35 years-old!
2. I never played Pinball Fx3, before playing this. So I get how a lot of reviews are upset that they couldn't take their tables to an entirely new game for forever, but that literally never affected me, because this is my first game in the series.

So, with those two important bits explained...

I absolutely love this game.

There are three main table types, and understanding this took me a while (because I was never a pinball fan remember).

1st type are simulations of actual real life tables. These are tables that exist in the real world, and that's why when you Google "best pinball tables" some of these lists will have tables from this video game on them. These are often the Williams tables, but not always as other tables like Addams Family, Indiana Jones etc are real-world remakes.

There are two Williams brand tables that I highly recommend, as I think they are ALMOST must have, Medieval Madness (found in the Williams pack 1 DLC), which most people will include in their top #1 or #2 tables of all-time... and the second is Monster Bash (found in the Williams monster pack), which most people include in their top #10 of all-time. I personally think this table is the most fun pinball machine I have ever played on. And the simulated version on Pinball FX is very close to me playing this machine at my local arcade. I cannot recommend enough that you at least TRY these tables in the trial mode.

The second and third types of tables are licensed and unlicensed zen originals made for their video game platforms only. These tables don't exist in the real world, but that doesn't mean that they aren't a good time. I have only played a few of these... and like most pinball tables, they are hit and miss. I prefer 'long' tables, and some of these can feel a bit short in how they play. They also have some really great features because they are 100% digital... meaning that they can do cool stuff that you simply can't do on a real world table, like disintegrate a ball and have it teleport.

Overall... I am a huge fan of this game. I think it works great. I think it looks great. I like that I bought the Williams Series 1 Legacy bundle at $10, and it gave me the tables on FX3, so if I want to go back and play that for tables that haven't been remade in the new engine, I can. I like that this game is free, and that I can snag up only the tables I want, instead of spending $60 for a package of stuff I'll never play. I like this game a lot.

10/10 would absolutely recommend.

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME FOR THE GAMEPLAY!

If mediocre to subpar gameplay doesn't immediately turn you off, this game is actually pretty good. It's a glorified walking simulator with collectibles. But after trying to get into this game three times, I finally sat down and just played it start to end. Before I knew it, the story had me totally drawn in. The voice acting is shockingly excellent. Like really really good. The characters were all interesting.

I would recommend this game. PARTICULARLY if you get it on sale. Not sure I would spend a full $20. But anything under $10 is probably right.

If you like Darkest Dungeon and Warhammer 40k, this is not QUITE as dark thematically, but the atmosphere and gameplay are fun. The beginning is brutal. It takes a while to understand the mechanics of timing out the campaign for achievements. By the end, it seems more like a puzzle than a tactical wargame. Love it. Recommended.

Whatever you do... DO NOT DO DRUGS while playing Superliminal. Not that I did drugs, because I have never done drugs. BUT! I DID stream this game, and my audience wanted me to lead off the review by noting that fact. You have been warned.

Pros:
Trippy, in a good way
Perfect amount of difficulty, enough to slow you down a bit, but not render you paralyzed

Cons:
Its short. 2.5 hours later, I beat the game and a good 80% of that, was while being quite drunk. Just being honest here.
Elevator music was a small irritant.

I like this game. It was fun. Buy it on sale. Seriously don't pay a full $19.99 + tax for this.

Gladius has won me over. I was fully prepared to uninstall the game, but I'm 27 hours in now and honestly I am really enjoying myself. I originally bought it because I was a 40k fan, and I guess I didn't realize how much city management there was going to be.

When I found that out I was discouraged because I didn't want another Civ game, with a 40k skin. But after forcing myself to give it another chance... and I'm glad I did.

It feels punishing. I like that. The game IS hard, particularly at first. But unlike a Civ game, the city stuff is much much lighter. The game DOES however put a lot more focus on the war, and it feels satisfying. The sight lines in particular, are jarringly difficult.

But after I completed my first playthrough, I found myself immediately wanting to jump into another faction.

It's not perfect, but it's a good game.
