Whilst the cultural adjustments were a fine addition to the game - even if some of the tenets for particular cultures feel a bit off - and the mechanics surrounding the cultural hybridization are fun and can lead to a more varied game, they feel rather shallow. The fact they came free is a decent bandaid, the paid mechanics are not. The artifact system and the RPG-esque equipping system look good, but the artifacts themselves are less impressive and feel less earned than artifacts acquired in the predecessor. They give marginal bonuses and due to the sheer quantity of them you acquire, there's no sentiment or real incentive to keep a hold of them. In CK2 if you gained or lost an artifact, it felt good due to the RNG aspect of it or especially bad since there was no easy way to get it back once it was taken from you. In CK3, you can see plainly the purpose of the artifact system: a money sink. It's something for a player who inevitably snowballed due to the easiness of the game to spend money on once they became too big to collapse. The same goes for the court system. Whilst it gives you means to help tidy up your realm and become stronger thanks to some of the milestones for achieving certain levels of grandeur, it's something you're not really involved in beyond spending a pittance per month to increase the quality of clothing and food - which, by the way, gives no visual improvement to the courtroom itself - and after some years in-game, you gain some modifier bonuses to your realm. That's it. The court system feels isolated from the rest of the game in a way, and that probably gives some insight into how future DLCs will function. For example, you gain nothing by having the prior flavor pack, since the Norse don't get any unique visuals for their court once you achieve kingdom rank. Also, locking it to kingdom rank and above guts any potential for competing with your own liege for a grander court, which could have delegitimized them in the eyes of their subjects and given you a claim on their title. The game is lacking in little touches like that all throughout, and this new DLC only added a handful of events to give more life to your game.

I wouldn't recommend purchasing this, even if it was 10 dollars cheaper. The game only feels marginally less empty without it.

Cliffhanger ending, confusing story, repetitive side objectives that consume hours of time so you're ineligible for a refund by the second major mission, technical issues out the ass and an awful microtransaction-packed multiplayer to boot - do not buy!

It's a glitchy, buggy, filled to the brim with micspammers, has no progression system or really anything of significant value to keep bringing you back to it... but by god, is it fun! No regrets.

Holy balls is this buggy as ♥♥♥♥. Not only do I spawn in the enemy base, melee is incredibly unbalanced at this moment in time. Do reccomend it? Perhaps, maybe a few more updates before it can qualify as 'good'
