Simple in its concept, yet deep in its nuances and strategies. I have never played on a Public server (only with friends I know or through various Discord communities), so I can't speak for that, but this one's a real treat when you have a big group on voice chat. Have fun, play it as a game, don't take anything personally, and you'll have a grand ol time.

Perfectly scratches that classic mystery itch. It's extremely satisfying and well worth the asking price if you're looking to have your logic and deduction skills constantly challenged. The visual style is incredibly unique and I love the brief musical interludes that represent each chapter. Lucas Pope is an extremely talented developer, and I would recommend checking out his other game "Papers, Please" as well.

Great concept that ties into the core themes very well. Without a scoreboard or knowing how many other players are still in the match at any given time, the paranoia and tension will keep building up all the way until you make your exit. Losing your best hunter is frustrating, but escaping with two bounty tokens (as well as some player kills) makes up for it by being INCREDIBLY satisfying.
Being a CryEngine game, it has some beefy system requirements, so keep that in mind before purchasing. There are a few bugs here and there as well as some occasional cases "jankiness" with how it plays, but it is leagues ahead of where similar games were at this point in its lifetime.
Going on the subjective side for a bit, I love the setting and everything that comes with it. The assortment of slow-ass Wild West guns are my JAM, and it gives the game a unique pace. The creature designs are neat and the locales are fittingly eerie. What ties it all together, however, is the awesome sound design. Distant booms of a coachgun, the gurgling of a half-drowned zombie, and the creaking of the dock's woodwork beneath your feet all sound spot on. You can tell the audio wizards here did their homework, so massive props to them.
The biggest flaws would probably be the learning curve and the pacing. Although there isn't a whole lot to learn, the focus on slow, heavy-hitting weapons means that seasoned FPS regulars are going to have a distinct advantage over newer players. Unless you play incredibly carefully the entire time, be prepared to die a few times to random snipers. Once you get a feel for the game and put a dozen or so matches under your belt, you should get the hang of things and start to understand what's what. As for the pacing, I could see a lot of people thinking it's too slow. There is a lot of walking and sneaking around without any action. I feel like it comes with the territory and is an inherent issue with the genre in general. If it turns you off, that's fair, but I'm fine with it myself.
Overall, this game's atmosphere bleeds into every facet of its design, and the result is a tense experience in the best possible way. I'm mostly a singleplayer person, but I find myself coming back to Hunt whenever I'm between games, and it's fun every time. If it looks like something you'd be interested in, I'd definitely give it a shot.

A great little gem that demonstrates how choices don't have to be world-changing in order to be deep and thought provoking. This game almost perfectly blends fulfilling optimistic dreams with gut-punchingly harsh realities. Although the gameplay itself got a touch repetitive and it's a bit short, The Novelist's down-to-earth story and decisions make up more than enough for it. I thought it was well worth the $3.74 I paid for it.

Just a beautiful game. The artwork and music are top-notch, creating an aesthetic that is impossible to find uninspired. The gameplay mechanics seem to be hit and miss for a lot of people, but it's a bullseye for me. The story is great, the world is interesting, the choices do indeed matter, and you'll find yourself invested in the characters quickly.

My main gripe is that the caravan sequences take up too much of the total playtime. I understand their purpose and I find the sporadic choices thougt-provoking, but there must be some way to keep the player engaged during these cutscenes.

Overall, a great foundation for a trilogy. Although the formula would only be improved upon in later games, this first entry still stands as a very solid game.
