First of all you have to understand that this game is a visual novel and not a strategy RPG. Once you've got that figured out we can get into this review.

If you like the Digimon Animes and want to experience yourself playing as a lead character and making choices that impact the storyline you are in the right place. The games unique story content is amazing, based on your choices you will feel all sorts of emotions as you progress. The story keeps all of the main elements that your typical Digimon anime / story - manga would have with a dark twist.

Gameplay wise the tactical element is fun, I played through the story on Normal which is a decent challenge based on your characters Afinities and what choices you make in the story. The tactics based gameplay which resembles a Fire Emblem / Final Fantasy Tatics esque style is fun for what it is. The movements with the different digimon characters are fun, the evolutions during the fights are unique (for the story characters and partners). If there was on thing I think was lacking a bit, it would be the ability for the digimon to have multiple attacks without having to equip something to give them an extra. There's only two slots available so managing stat increasing boosts versus giving another attack is a little lackluster (I think another slot could have helped). Otherwise i've got no complaints.

The visuals are awesome, i love the art in this game. The art flows so well from scene to scene and the characters and digimon are very well represented. (I really like collecting the TCG) The art is very similar to to an anime style while keeping some of the trading card elements.

This game also has a great soundtrack, really sets the tone and emotion of the entire story... you'll feel the impending doom and you'll feel refreshed when you've won. (the only negative thing I have in terms of the audio and visuals would perhaps be on the scenes where the main characters hit there evolutions - they need a little more pep lol, kinda like what we felt in the 2020 Adventure reboot - This is just an opinion)

The New Game + works well giving you the option to skip past old cutscenes and tutorials (I don't want to mention more so that you can experience it your selves).

If you love the Digimon stories / animes / manga's and enjoy reading a lot then you'll absolutely love this game! I sure am having fun with it, still trying to complete different endings and to acquire new Digimon and items.
