A beautiful marriage of horde shooters with hack and slash, yielding ample room for personalization and technical mastery.

Labelling this game "Minecraft but 2D" is doing it a great disservice.

Early Access Review
A surprisingly addictive time waster for anyone with an interest in astronomy. Modding the software has also been a blast, though there are some hurdles to get through in the Steam version that didn't exist prior.

The worst game to accumulate three or four digits of hours on a copious quantity of Steam profiles.

Though the mass release of DLCs and the introduction of microtransactions detracted from the appeal of the game, the fact that the game has received passionate attention to this day is admirable.

Fans of the previous franchise will not see any familiar story elements, alas, not even the T word is here.
However, Thief 2014 is inspired by its older relatives when it comes to the gameplay. There is a huge respect for non-fatal ghost playstyles to be found, and I can only commend developers of a triple-A title to not go the badass action hero route.
Not all the mechanics are identical, but the ideas are there. The sense of exploration and lack of hand-holding has been toned down, which does take away from the experience, but they have nailed the flow of the gameplay. I rarely blamed the game for my failures in stealth, due to a smooth learning curve.
If you like stealth games and can get past the fact that this suffers from in-name-only reboot syndrome, it might be worthwhile.
