as far as i can tell they have changed the weapons to be more viable in general. so use what you want now.

look guys if you're looking for a good aRPG experience the game is great. i dont have a lot of time in it to be fair, but the combat is smooth skill trees are extensive and entertaining. the biggest issue with the game was server issues that as far as i can tell has been mostly fixed. if you want to play the game just play in offline mode while servers continue to be tinkered with.

Look, my opinion of this game is not the same as everyone elses. Is this game good? absolutely no doubt about it. but in my personal opinion. the game play is just fine. not bad by any definition, but it's not outstanding. is it unique? yeah kinda with some of the things you can do with the weapons. you may not even share the opinion with me. should you play this game? yes. But should you expect one of the best games ever made? no, not in my opinion.

look man. seriously, give this game a try if you like the fantasy witches and sword play and all that jazz. i started this game over probably 3 times before i finally truly played through it, and i'm so glad my friend made me play through it again. it is such a good game and worth your time and money. you may need to use some mods here and there to fix some minor visual bugs every now and then. but it's worth it.
