I really enjoy this game. I wish a bit more time was invested on your in game person a bit more. There isn't a whole lot of personalization you can do, and you can only be a female, which isn't an issue just always nice when a game allows you to customize your person the way you want. Other little things that would be nice is the ability to not always have something equipped in your hand, a bit more animation of your person, the ability to maybe sit down as your person give them some emotes, things like that. As for the rest I really have no complaints, only compliments. Real fun and calming game. Look forward to playing co-op with my wife.

The only downside to this game is that it is impossible to find a downside. What is there not to like.
I can play couch co-op with my wife. I can play on the LAN with my wife and friends. I can play online with friends. Larian Studios has done another stupendous job. I felt like a kid again watching the intro and making my character.

Early Access Review
A skeleton of a game with extreme potential.

The devs needs to work on building some meat and muscle into the game,

-give each location far more personality and character.
-NPCs should be created, right now just models standing around that you cannot interact with and which are completely lifeless.
-More and more interesting locations, with detailed towns, villages, cities and NPCs.
-Customization of your ship would be awesome, i.e. color, textures etc. You can buy items and put them in your ship for customization at the moment.
-Purchasing your own town/trade-dock that you help grow and flourish (just ideas for some additional mechanics in the game. Right now the process is simply: pick up mission, pick up cargo, sail, sell, rinse repeat.)
-Pirates and or Piracy?
-NPC ship-hands to assist you on larger ships?
(all food for thought)

The most important part of the game (sailing) is already quite enjoyable, so that is good. I already enjoy this game as it is, I can only imagine how much better it can be.

As of right now, if you like pointless, super-early access relaxing, sea-fairing trade games, then this is the game for you.

Chart a course, adjust your sails, check the wind, light a joint and off you go.

This is my experience after 1 day of playing this game (5-8 hours). I will come back and edit once I've gotten further in the game.

This is still an Early Access Game in my opinion. The audio quality of the game is... subpar, the levels are all over the place, the environment and ambient audio sometimes just don't fit well or sound well. The NPC's are lifeless, some have some small audio/voice clips, but the audio levels there are also unbalanced. First couple of hours, I had gotten stuck jumping up a ladder, and had to reload. The environment is pretty though. Ill just make a quick list using minus and plus.

-Audio, unbalanced, levels need to be fixed, better audio clips, needs to be voice acted
-NPCs, somewhat buggy, lifeless, boring, audio levels are horrid, needs voice acting, need more variety
-Quest markers hard to follow, map markers hard to understand
-Menu UI unintuitive, Item stacks difficult to organize and move around

+Beautiful ambiance, environment
+Decent good looking graphics
+Fun if you enjoy building/survival games
+I like that its slow paced, cant carry infinite items, cant run at super speeds etc.
+Fun buildings, looks pretty
+I like the music

All in all I give it a 7/10. I think it could be great, it just needs some TLC, some more patching and updates.
If the devs wont do it, give it to the modding community, they'll turn this into a 10/10 game, I'm sure of it.

This game is underrated. This game gets a 10/10 for combat alone. Never played a Fantasy RPG with better real-time combat system. The move combinations are amazing. Apart from that, the only downside is that the character development is whatever, the characters are whatever, and the story is ok. The world is still very lively and pretty, the monsters are cool and fun. I honestly hope a 2nd one is made somehow, somewhere, by someone, who keeps the combat system the same and only improves upon it. Best battle-mage playing I've ever played.

Early Access Review
I wish I could give this game a "Maybe", in all honesty. You've read the other reviews, mine is no different. Humans are generally a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ species in reality, let alone in a world where the worst of vices are possible and even praised.

-GENERALLY a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥ community, why? Because humans are the key element in this games community.

-Don't solo this game unless you are a masochist.

-This game makes Dark Souls look like Candy Land. You will die, you will lose everything you've spent hours, if not days building. Merciless and unforgiving. Period.

-This game will come crashing down upon you in waves of anxiety and paranoia. You will never feel so anxious and nervous like this from any other video game. Not for the faint of heart, or weak of mind.

-There are hackers, completely obvious and even blatant hackers. Choose your servers wisely, the official Rust servers are a hit and miss. Some haven't had admins for what appears to be months if ever.

-Play with friends or online acquaintances. This is essential if you aren't a masochist and want to feel like you are accomplishing something in this game.

-You CAN find decent people. Look at the world chat, talk to people, see who is the obvious arrogant piece of ♥♥♥♥, and those who seem to be in the same boat as you. Once you find one helpful person, it will be easier to find others, maybe the person you just encountered has some friends or online acquaintances and your alliances will grow. This is how I was lucky enough to enjoy this game second day in.

-Avoid being an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Why? Because being a decent human being in Rust sets you apart from the rest of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ people. ♥♥♥♥♥♥ people are in abundance on all Rust servers, there is no need for an additional one.

-Disregard ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. There is no need to let them get the best of you. Remind yourself that this is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ video-game, not real life. The opinions and actions of people inside this game are irrelevant and stupid, remember this. No need to go cursing people out and just making yourself look like an ass. If they are hacking, report it. If they aren't hacking but just generally being douches, ignore them. Spawn elsewhere, or take a break from the game.

-Avoid clan servers. They are boring and futile. You will die, or you will join, there is nothing else you can do on a clan server.

-Maybe look for low population servers, there are plenty, you wont run into as many people, therefore the possibility of running into ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ is highly diminished.

-Don't be like me, go to YouTube, watch at least 2-3 videos on how to play Rust. Then go to the Wiki, read more information there. You will get answers in game, but usually everyone is resentful. Again, you may run into a nice person, but save that person some time and frustration and teach yourself the basics of rust, e.g. resource mining, building a base, blueprints, SLEEPING BAGS / SPAWNING (IMPORTANT!!!!), LOCKING DOORS!!! (can't emphasis this enough, If you don't, you'll lock yourself in or out of your own base), the difference in a properly and well placed base vs. a poorly placed and developed base, HOW people raid you, how not to attract attention from ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, etc.

[WARNING]
This game will lure you in and consume your soul, mind, body and time. Days will fly by only for you to realize you haven't slept or eaten since then.

Last but not least, purchase this game when its on sale.

Do you like Lovecraft? - CHECK
Do you like Darksouls? - CHECK
Do you like Difficulty? - CHECK

Every negative review you see on here, is not due to the fact that this game is bad, or found lacking in some aspect. Its because everyone who gave it a bad review is a little ♥♥♥♥♥, who gets butt hurt by a game proving itself difficult. Its like everyone who says Dark Souls is bad, because they're either too lazy or too stupid to learn the mechanics of the game and find it easier to ♥♥♥♥♥ and moan and blame it on the title itself rather than their piss poor attitudes. Every negative review you see, is literally because they played the game and said "its too hard, boo boo." whether they admit it or not. In all honesty, THIS GAME ISN'T EVEN THAT HARD! It really isn't. Yeah, you're going to lose characters, even powerful characters, who've you've invested time and money to make better. Thats just how the damn game rolls, its hard, it wants to see you fail and die. Thats the whole ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ point. Its dark and gritty straight up, and if you do survive a dungeon with all your characters intact (WHICH HAPPENS, A LOT!!! IF you know wtf you're doing) your characters will come out of it stressed out, slightly insane, infected or ill, OR perfectly fine. The whole point of the game, which apparently everyone who gave a negative review does not understand, is that you recruit AS MANY CHARACTERS as you can. Why? Because you cycle through them, you slowly level up each character one dungeon at a time. Once you've finished a dungeon with a party, you let that party rest and recover from its wounds and ailments, and you build another party in the interim to go out and do more dungeon crawling, that simple, rinse and repeat. Every dungeon has its quirks and difficulties. You learn by playing the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game what each dungeon has to offer, and its not even tha random, literally once you've run a dungeon 2-3 times, you've seen 80%-90% of what that dungeon contains and what you will encounter everytime, so you can PREPARE accordingly. You don't just rush into this game, create some random party, and jump head first into one of these dungeons, you party WILL ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ die. Period. Your party will get annhiliated even when you THINK you are prepared. Thats why this game is so good. It makes you plan, prepare and strategize. You learn how to use all the different characters together and you slowly build tactics and strategy so you can watch your weak characters become brutal monster slayers. Straight up, if you like leveling characters and looting WITH DIFFICULTY and leveling up your homebase, this is your game. Just accept the fact that some of your characters will die, you will probably go broke if you don't manage your finances correctly, and you will fight some difficult as ♥♥♥♥ bosses and enemies. Deal with it. This game is 10/10. Its great. A for everyone else, either IT ISNT your cup of tea, or your a whiney ♥♥♥♥♥. Tertium non datur.
NOTE* I got this game as a gift from a friend for my b-day and I was surprised and amazed.

I like this game, a lot, I just wish I could play it. I've spent 40 minutes dying 3 times. Different captains and everything. Maybe I just dont get it? Seems like there isn't a way to make money or purchase fuel or supplies. Fuel and supplies cost an outrageous amount of money, and you get missions but nobody seems to be able to tell you where anything is? They know there's a place called so-and-so yet no one can give you even a slight clue as to what direction you should take... I'll just have to keep playing until I can figure it out.
