The 1.4 update and its consequences have been a total disaster. The promised "QoL" update (that took 3 years???) has been exactly the opposite of QoL improvements.
It has lowered the quality and enjoyability of the game. I also don't know why this garbage downgrade took 3 years, but my guess is that relogic doesn't even want to work on this game anymore. The new additions haven't been creative either, they're mostly just stuff ripped off from mods (like journey mode and boss healthbars). Sure, there's some good stuff, like a better autosort system, block swap, golf, new vanity, wind effects and character blinking... But then there's so much bad stuff, and it's literally terrible lol.
Let me tell you about the main things that lowered the quality of this once near-perfect game:
- The quality of multiplayer has worsened terribly: rubberbanding, mobs glitching through walls, teleporting, and more. No more having fun in a smooth multiplayer environment, because Re-Logic found a million ways to ♥♥♥♥ up their code even more.
- The Reaver Shark nerf has reduced replayability of the game. It's a sandbox after all.
- Master Mode is just pointless and pretty much a copy of expert, there's barely any difference, so imo they should've either never added it OR merged it with FtW for a unique challenge.
- The NPC happiness system is cancer, another pointless piece of ♥♥♥♥ addition to a *sandbox* game.
- It's no longer possible to have coloured Tabi dash particles. I don't know why Re-Logic would even do that, but it is what it is.
- You're forced to wear vanity-only accessories in the social slots. It's just not a good change.
- Your Recycle Bin will be filled with backups of your worlds/chars. Have fun deleting 50mb of junk files everytime you play.
- The Zenith Sword was just an unneeded addition, and has significantly (negatively) affected the enjoyability of PvP and all endgame combat. Remember when ML with 6 players ingame took long, even with sdmg's? No more of that, because Zenith rips everything to shreds. It's extremely OP compared to other endgame weapons like LP or SDMG, which is why now there's inbalance between classes in endgame.

And a couple unnecessary changes that probably only I'm unhappy about:
- Removed Sash's Glitch (why tho, it didn't hurt anyone?)
- Removed Shadow Dodge/Holy Protection Sillhouttes when invisible (no more cool pvp aesthetics, rip)
- PvP is now even worse than it was in 1.3 (not to mention how bad it is when there's lag too)
- Hardcore text changed from Purple to Red (just... why?)
