Do you like Smash Bros? Do you like competitive fighting games in which you and your opponent duke it out in a battle of fast paced mind games? Well, look no further, Rivals of Aether is a Smash-inspired fast-paced platform fighter! The roster is somewhat limited but what they lack in quantity they make up in quality. Each character has their own form of stage control, that'll keep both you and your opponent on your toes.

Despite it being a poor port, with needing a third-party patch in order to play the game in fullscreen, it is an amazing game with a story that's sure to keep you on your toes. I love this game. I can complain about the length being about 20 hours, it definitely is fairly short but I did feel as though the $60 I spent was well justified. The gameplay is fluid, with various forms of gameplay throughout including hack n' slash, top down shooter, side scroller, and bullet hell. It works quite well in the way they integrated it. It's just a great game, I highly recommend it if you have a PC capable enough to run it because again, it is a bad port.

I was told I should play this in a Reddit thread and I definitely do not regret picking it up. The gameplay is meh but the story is incredible and impactful. I can't believe I have never actually heard anything about this game from really anybody, it is extremely underrated.
