Downgrade and degradation from the 2001 original in almost every aspect.

Good:
✅ Polish localization (although slight tone shift from the original, more vulgar)
✅ Rearrangement of the original soundtrack as well as newly composed tracks are a great fit and true to the original atmosphere
✅ Some of the environment textures while loaded and not smeared with artifacts are looking good

Bad:
❌ Interface feels like a placeholder at worst and misplaced skyrim UI at best, doesn't convey the "rawness" of the original and comes across as a free "material UI" blueprint
❌ Usual Unreal Engine suspects like terrible default lighting, pop-ins and slowly loading textures paired with antialiasing artifacts
❌ There's no key press buffer: whenever you are exiting a menu or performing an action, key press and hold is not registered and your character does not perform the asigned action
❌ Character animations are EXTREMELY sluggish, it's like a caricature of the original with painfully slow transitions during movement and comically slow swings during combat
❌ In addition to slower and more painful starting and stopping animations during movement than the original, the character constantly gets stuck on geometry and smallest collision models
❌ Facial and body expressions of characters during dialogue are more static and less expressive than in 2001 original where characters at very least used arm movements
❌ While more understandable, the interactible items are still harder to identify and constantly checking for a highlight around them paired with really uncomfortable movement causes frustration
❌ Animation locks during interactions with picking up items or opening chests is unneccesarily lethargic
❌ Melee combat while having absurdly drawn out animation locks on lvl 1 combat mastery skill fails to achieve any sort of hit impact and feedback
❌ No timing based combo hit chaining system from the 2001 original which results in removed layer of depth without any compensating mechanic in its place

Those are the first impressions with the demo, I would highly recommend replaying the original with dx11 lighting for the 30th time instead, but in its infinite wisdom THQ decided to raise the price for the original, over 20 year old games following the buzz around the remake - do with that information what you will.

Epilogue

Can't buy a single game without surprise ♥♥♥♥ in the ass nowadays

This is the moment when Namcops decided to cash out 30 years of reputation building for the Tekken brand
Modern gaming at its finest, you can never buy a game without also having a phallic object put into your mouth in some way

Played it on gamepass, bought it on steam just to be able to spend money on it

Since the beta New World went through alot of updates, tweaks, fixes, adjustments and implemented quite an amount of improvements.

This being said, the overall quality of the game has been raised from overwhelmingly "♥♥♥♥" to just "bad"
It's still not near the state of what it should be at release in most aspects, mainly the clunky combat, massive desync problems and extremely repetetive leveling process.
The good elements like sound design and gathering get easily overshadowed by everything else that actively ruins your enjoyment.

The expectations tripped this game, the cut content beat it to a pulp, the marketing put the bullet through its head and the technical state spat on the corpses.
Launch of this game was extremely disappointing, especially if you followed this game since it's teaser in 2012
Who knows, maybe by the time they fix it and add new content it will be actually worth it
In 2077

Unforgettable surreal horror/comedy with an incredible atmosphere and story that makes you want more. Decent amount of collectibles, multiple endings and hidden achievements adding to the replay value.
The only criticism I would have is some of the characters not having nearly enough dialogue, but it doesn't take away from the overall extremely positive experience with the game.

653 days of campaign, devs roll out a patch that corrupts all of my saves.
If you're a masochist and like losing more than 30 hours of playtime, highly recommended.
