Early Access Review
The game was good, however each time I was playing it, I would constantly hear one of my drive spinning out of control.
At first I didn't think it was the game, just that I had caught some malware, so I decided monitoring the activity of my PC. I then discovered that the game launch massive scans across your entire computer, it doesn't matter whether the game is installed on a SSD or if you did not give it admin's rights, it will crawl all of your drives.

Worst anti-cheat ever, I stopped playing league of legend due to their kernel based anticheat, this game is a no-brainer for me since it is actively damaging my drives for absolutely no reason.

The funny thing is that when checking the forum I kept seeing complaints about cheaters, it will always amaze me the length some company will go to fight against an issue, they don't bother trying to either adjust their game or seek ways to restrict accounts, they just blatantly decide to implement stuff that will damage their player base hardware or put their security at risk.

Edit: For those of you who might want additional information. Their background process is called TavernWorker. Here's a screenshot of it crawling through my system:

More like Divinity 3.

If you like Divinity, Multiplayer, Race/Class specific choices, simplicity -> Baldur's Gate 3
If you like Deep character customizations, Epic Levels, Baldur's gate playstyle -> Pathfinder: Wrath of the righteous

I haven't finished the game yet but did complete probably half of the game by now. Level 7 & max level is 12 so that sound accurate. However yeah, the game is way closer to divinity than a baldur's gate title.

The openness is not there at all. The world is somewhat open but you still have to advance through specific quests to unlock the next areas. Don't get me wrong, baldur's gate also had areas locked by progressions but you could still pretty much explore 70% of the world without advancing an inch in the main story.

Character customization is kind of funky as well. I didn't do the multiplayer hack to have a custom party mostly because there was the hirelings & also because I was looking forward to see who could be recruitable. Worst case scenario, there was the mask of the betrayer which was supposed to bring you back to character screen. I knew the hirelings were probably going to be hard-coded, perhaps to have some events but as far as I can see, they are just puppet without thoughts. In which case, why couldn't they let us customize them?

No custom portrait / expressions.
No appearance slots? (Wasn't part of the original ones and this part is not that big of a deal but most rpgs do it and there's no real reason to not do it when the implementation is so simple)

The voices used in their cinematics are not even close to the voices of the character itself? I would just have let the player customize them and completely ignore any kind of interaction with them instead of implementing it in a poor way.

At some point, I noticed some issues that bothered me with my character, I thought, ah, time to try the betrayer mask! Nope, its actually a shapeshift illusion with a button for every type of race, body type. Kind of weird. It has some usefulness, just not in the same direction.

The game is good but theres a few issues :
- NPCs that just don't do anything in combat despite having enemies 2m away from them and not being under the effect of anything. I thinks this one somewhat has to do with some NPC that were not meant to go in battle? I find it odd each time I see it. Its not related to the enemy stealth or visibility. Some of them are just frozen and worst of all is that they make you lose something like 10s every round until their round timeout occur.
- Bugged quests / Inconsistent dialogs. Iv seen quite a few instances where you do an action through the dialogs and then this action is automatically discarded in the follow up answer. For example, you make give them something for free and they then tell you something like "Better be considering what I just paid you!" which always leaves me a little bit stunned. But yeah, not as bad the quests that are not marked as completed despite being completed.
- Some fights are weirdly coded. Most of the time, combat is kind of nice, enemies will follow you far which can make things interresting but in some rare cases, some will abort combat after reaching a specific point which might not even be very far from where the fight started. I don't really understand the reasoning of forcing them to stick to a specific area, it just remove creativity.

When they said they would support mods, I kind of expected them to release the toolkit just like divinity. For divinity, there wasn't much content but Im pretty sure that it is mostly due to weird world divinity plays in. Turns out theres no toolkit, I don't even see some kind of mod manager, it is odd a little.

What they improved over divinity :
- Acrobatic / Stealth gameplay.
- Flight seemed better, maybe it was similar in divinity but I don't recall much due to their appearances being minimal.
- D&D universe which is way better
- D&D combat rules
- More in-depth dialogs / More options depending on class/race/path.

But yeah, it doesn't really feel like a baldur's gate title probably due to the overwhelming things taken from divnity.

Nice does what you expect, there's a reset grass button which is cool. The only thing I could wish would be the ability to increase the patch size / maybe move the camera around when too large.

The game was in early access so I expected changes to happen, including the possibility of VR which was mentioned.
Turns out the early access tag was removed without any changes made to the game, the game is still far from polished and they also decided to create a copy of the same game specially for VR at the same price.

Seems like the story repeat itself.

The base game.... with minor VR functionality. This should have been a module and is definitely not worth the full price (80$ CAD).

I was hesitating since most reviews were mentionning online issues, however after reading most recent reviews I figured I would try it with the off chance that all the negative reviews were wrong.

Finally, it look like most of the complainers were probably either on bad wifi or shared connections, or were playing when the game servers were still unstable during the release time.

I have never been disconnected the entire time and as some have said, if you do get disconnected, you apparently have the chance to reconnect without loosing any progress.

I thinks my only problem with the game is that, to get the most out of each mission, you are kind of forced to replay them multiple times in order to unlock the special starting point / costumes / weapons. It can definately be fast if you achieve a lots of feats / opportunities in a single playthrough however. It is just a little bit more irritating when it is a less enjoyable mission and the only way to play the more appealing options is to replay it...

Otherwise, first person view is no longer available, a little shame.

Beside that, I thinks the game is great.
