Laika was sent to space in November of 1957. She was the first living being to go into orbit. Laika was a stray mutt found on the streets of Moscow, the Soviets fed her up and she felt love for the first time. But her love was betrayed, the Soviets only want to use her as a test, to test the effects of space travel on living creatures, therefore no plans for Laika to return were ever arranged. A week after Laika was sent to orbit, the Soviets cut her life support, and she sufficated to death. Without oxygen in her pod bacterias were never able to fester, her body never decayed. She is still up there, farther then most of us humans will ever get to, watching over us, wanting to go home.
