It is pretty good

Game was released earlier than it should have. Essentially an early-access game without the early-access tag.

The game itself can be fun at times, and has some new and improved features (improved diplomacy, new faction mechanics, improved lighting) but in other aspects, predominantly the ones related to fun gameplay, it has been largely a downgrade from the previous title in the series, Warhammer II.

Technology trees are mostly inconsequential (and sometimes straight up bugged) and skill trees feel like they were developed in complete isolation from the good improvements made to the ones in Warhammer II's throughout its development.

I personally don't mind the Realms of Chaos campaigns and think it's a nice change of pace, but the delayed (and lack of communication relating to) the merged Immortal Campaigns campaign hurts, although sandbox play is more viable now after the initial patch and with some additional mods.

The foundations and the theme of the game are good, but it will take a lot of work with a dedicated team to make it the absolute joy and labour of love that Warhammer II ended up becoming, despite its rough edges.

Feels good when you click the enemy's heads before they click on yours. But it sucks when it's the other way round.

As Pliny the Elder once said after drunken night out in Magaluf: "Rome wasn't patched in a day". It's neither the game we deserve, but give it a try, might just be the game you need right now.
