I've always been particularly fond of Treyarch-made Call of Duty games. They tend to innovate more, guns sound louder and punchier, colors are vibrant. And zombies is always a fun game mode. Black ops 3 is no different in these respects.

The multiplayer is fantastic. I absolutely love the camo system, with constant unlocks for each weapon culminating in several unique challenges (like getting killstreaks with the weapon, getting kills with no attachments/tons of attachments). Completing those nets you a nice looking gold camo. Getting gold camo for all weapons in a class gets you diamond camo for that classes' weapons. And getting diamond for all weapons gets a fantastic looking dark matter. It's constantly rewarding and encourages using all types of weapons. I absolutely fell in love with the Sheiva and Drakon, weapons I would likely not have tried if it weren't for camo challenges.

Plus attachments are great. The thermal scope is particular is one of the best in any COD game. Plus earning new reticles gives even more incentive to using certain scopes. Just tons of customization altogether.

I wasn't a fan of the movement system in Advanced Warfare. Too much zipping, dashing around. It made hitting your target annoying, and ruined the core gameplay in my opinion. Black ops 3 is more restrained, but still different from previous call of duty games, with a simple, controllable double jump and wall running. The maps are tailored for that. It's similar to Titanfall (which has the best movement system of any FPS in my opinion), and it works wonderfully without being overkill.

The maps look great and colorful, and offer plenty of variety. There's only 1 or 2 which I don't love. Unfortunately, Treyarch has made several weapons (and most new ones) only available in loot boxes, which are completely randomly based. They have made challenges that make receiving these easier. I eventually got gold knucles, the FFAR assault rifle, and another melee weapon. I don't love the system, but thankfully the weapons in these crates aren't overpowered. I would much prefer these DLC weapons available under specific challenges.

Weapon balance is great as well. It's been constantly tailored, but they hit a nice spot in my opinion.

And zombies is fantastic. Unfortunately you only get 1 map without the DLC. I enjoy it a lot, but sometimes its a bit too demanding to get pack a punch and other things if you just want a quicker game. DLC helps a lot, with The Giant being perfect for shorter games. Der Eisendrache is probably my favorite map in the series, with fantastic wonder weapons and challenges.

It's not a perfect game, but I absolutely love it. One of my favorite Call of Duty games quite honestly. Black Ops and Black Ops 2 were fantastic, and Treyarch continues the tradition, even if lootboxes are a bit of a pain and annoyance.

I think the fact that this game is still very popular ON PC is a large testament to how great it is. Advanced Warfare died on PC pretty quickly, while this game still routinely is more popular than even the newly released Infinite Warfare.
