Got it on sale since I saw iffy reviews. Mistakes were made. I requested a refund, F1 2021 is way better which is odd because this is basically just a re-skin with a worse handling model, OP AI, and some of the dumbest micro-transactions of all time. Here, buy a couch in a racing game with real money. Go away, EA

Updated Review: Bayou Call of Duty incoming. Crytek is an abusive relationship machine that introduces bugs and then some more and doesn't fix them but instead over-nerfs good features due to some people exploiting them. Instead of banning cheaters.

OLD Review from 2022: Perhaps one of the more underrated games currently out. New content being added, the gameplay loop is engaging and well balanced. The aesthetic is beautiful and the control scheme feels great. I, and several friends, are completely addicted.

Fun, rewarding learning curve. Team-focused play and proximity chat allow for some hilarious moments sprinkled in with the sheer terror you will be feeling.

This game deserves a better review but I just can't bring myself to do it. The difficulty is arbitrarily hard at the hardest setting. The AI is in faster cars than you and can push you out of the way while remaining unaffected by your vehicle. To win, you need to set 10-15 back to back world record level lap times and drive almost pixel perfect in a game with all the precision of a drunken elephant. Take it back a level and you'll win by 5-6 seconds, it is highly frustrating to deal with and when you pair that with what amounts to no progression system, it gets old fast.

I love the art style and the way the game plays outside of the above though. It is truly unique and has some interesting features. Some of the series have arbitrary pit stops as the AI always does the same thing every race. For all these reasons, I just can't recommend this game until some changes are made. I got it on sale in a bundle or something so I will continue to play it as it is a good time-passer on the steam deck, but that is about it.

Lost all progress due to error with their servers (apparently you need to be online to make any progress in this game). 50hrs I can never get back.

Can only play for maybe 10 minutes before a "crash" occurs. On of my secondary monitors will go black, the fps in game will dip to maybe 5fps. CPU/GPU usage both top out at like 50%. Closing the game and my PC is still bugged out until I restart the system. (slow response times, etc...) I have been very interested in this game for a long time, but it is unplayable. Running Windows 10 with i9-9900k, 32GM Ram and RTX2080TI.

Do not buy if you want anything resembling a playable Dirt game. Claims to be realistic, which it may be, but makes it impossible to play for the casual player. I am typically excellent at racers, but this game is awful. I have finally played every mode in hopes of finding at least one to warrant my purchase of this game and none of them are playable. Unfortunately that means no refund for me.
