Early Access Review
BLUF: I don't recommend this game now, but might be something worth looking at in the future.

Die hard action RPG fans might be able to overlook the quirks of this game, but I still think this early access game is still far from a completed state. As it stands now, the story and artwork are its most captivating points. While this is great, this hurts the game's replayability.

As of 02/05/2026, the game revolves around a campaign (and assumingly an endgame I'm about to reach soon). Progressing through the campaign yields loot, which you can don or break apart into your own crafts (provided you have the currency to do so). Crafting gear from resources is absolutely abysmal due to the facet system (random perks your gear earns upon birth from craft). Want a particular facet like lightning infusion? Good luck champ! Farm resources, craft, fail, sell, repeat. Is this necessary to complete the game? No. Does it get in the way of you enjoying your PRIMARY weapon? Yes. Devs, determined to leave it to RNG? Fine, just put another item in that lets us manipulate the facet outcome (guarantees element infusion, guarantees improved damage, etc). I might not complain about this avenue so hard if it wasn't such a PAIN to farm a resource for the basic construction of a weapon. Finding a wolf claw is like trying to find a Twinkie in 2012.

Combat feels mostly good. There's some buffering in the inputs that might cause frustration at first but you get used to it. I will say that ranged builds seem to be the way to go in this game. I chose to go gauntlets for my first build, and boy is it rough. This is not to say that some builds are not viable, it's just going to be a steeper climb if you choose non-ranged to level through the campaign with. Gauntlets specifically do quite a bit less damage than other melee weapons while also jeopardizing your safety, which is not a good trade-off. Besides that, it's made me semi-decent at parrying. Too bad parrying is practically worthless. In this game, you don't get to riposte an enemy after parry. Instead, you get to get 1 or 2 free swings in (depending on your weapon) before the enemy winds up their next attack. For me, parrying is just a focus gainer (focus being the mana in this game). Too risky, not enough reward.

The game is still riddled with bugs. Invisible enemies, inventory selection bugging out, getting trapped in menus at fast travel points... Beyond that any build is completely viable to the same degree because of the same few enchantments you can make into your gear. This is killing build diversity.

Co-op mode is great! It's totally great that my bud can be a caster while I play tank, and while I'm tanking the baddie my buddy blasts said baddie which also hits me! Wow! Now my guy is on the ground (if I'm lucky and didn't fall off a cliff/into a pit) wondering which advertising wizard came up with this idea? Woops. My fault for not choosing to be a ranged build. I can only imagine what daggers and gauntlets feel like in co-op.

The game is currently designed around the need to farm for resources for your crafting needs. There are daily and weekly challenges to complete to help you towards this goal, BUT HEAVEN FORBID I GET A WOLF PACK QUEST. I'm sure you're like, "just remember where you saw some and go back there later." Oh I did, and guess what? Completely different enemies! No rhyme or reason! I have no way of knowing that until I run all the way to said location from the closest fast travel point. Back to the dailies though, most of the rewards are not that enticing. Your mainly after crafting currency or gear that has the enchantments you want for your own gear. With the right currency, you can yoink enchantments off one piece and add them to another. I do like this system for crafting enchantments, but the aforementioned resource problem makes it way too time consuming just to do step 1 in the crafting process. I pray RNGesus be with you always so you can find good gear and not have to craft.

Everything about the story and artwork is fantastic though. The animations in the cutscenes are very pretty to look at. Like, I'd seriously watch this as a movie or show it's that good. These scenes are few and far between though, making you want more. Good or bad thing about scarcity, I'm not sure yet. I'm leaning towards good, but I hope we get to see a bit more.

Overall, I'd only pick this up if you're ready to deal with quirks. It's an addicting game that actively disrespects you in front of your crew. But it's likely only going to go up from here. I just can't recommend it to the masses yet.

It's a game that keeps on giving. If you're a streamer, it churns content. Great for just chilling with friends too, as the game is not completely demanding of your attention and allows plenty of room for being social. The style is cute and the fact that the maps change every single day never leads to a dull moment. Plenty of challenges and unlocks to customize your character. Worth every penny.

Excellent demo! The visual appeal of this game is amazing and the controls feel great! This is a great addition to any metroidvania enthusiast's library, though if you've never played a game like that this would be a great one to start with. Very much looking forward to the full release.

Playing the demo the game seems very promising. Unfortunately for me the experience was marred by a lot of skipped frames and crashing.

I've been playing this since it's early access release back in 2019. We're finally here at 1.0 and it's night and day to what the game used to be. I look at this game like a modernized basement train model hobbyist. The game is split into two main pillars, factory building and exploration. Build a small factory and explore while you wait for your materials to process. The 1.0 has added a lot to the gameplay, both in quality of life and in content. What I really enjoy about this game is that it has basically turned a progress bar into a puzzle, but the puzzle is your canvas. You can choose to speed through milestones and spaghetti everything together, or you can make something aesthetic and efficient. It really depends on how much time you'd like to invest. This the perfect game to decompress with in short bursts or it can really hook you for over 500 hours easy. Worth every dollar.

Over 100 hours in with just the Turtle Pack (aka F2P), and can confidently recommend the game. Don't let the visuals deceive you! It may look like a game for little kids but it's quite addicting once you grasp the strategy required for some W's. For me, this is the perfect game to play while I've got a podcast or longer YouTube video running on the side. The developers have been pushing out balance changes to the Turtle Pack and others while I've been playing the past few months (usually good changes). This is also a mobile game so if you need that fix you can continue playing on the go when you link your account. You can take as much time as you want with your turns (days even). There are a lot of viable builds worth exploring but I do feel that summoner builds tend to have the most requirement with little payoff, making them okay starters but difficult to win with. Having put over 100 hours into the free stuff, the paid stuff is likely worth it if you're really into the game. If you have a buddy who has the paid stuff they can host a lobby with it and let the F2P players experience the paid content (huge W). I am not a fan of the monthly paid subscription model. It's only $2/month which is very reasonable, but I just cannot recommend any subscription model when it comes to video games. I'd much prefer a one-time purchase or battle pass incentive. Give it a go!

Early Access Review
Simple mechanics but hard to master style game. My weapon of choice was the shotgun through most of my runs because I favored one-shot kills and the more explosive jump. The current visual design choice leaves a little to be desired in both prettiness and variety. The music is awful and hopefully just a placeholder. Levels are simple to navigate until you get to the (current) final level which requires an increased amount of precision, which I feel is a little bit of a large leap from the previous level. The bosses are decent and can be made easy as pie depending on your build. The worst of the bunch is definitely the Water Cooler boss. To be honest this type of enemy should be an RNG "Gatekeeper" that appears in the level. Make it a 2-phase with a guaranteed drop and you got yourself a mini-boss. The other 2 bosses are pretty decent as is, with their only "lack" being any sort of world-building/lore/dialogue. I really like how the final boss had actual attack pattern changes which the first boss is lacking in that department. All the passives are decent. I definitely favored the emergency healing above all. Some weapons I just didn't like, particularly the yo-yo, javelin, and boomerang. I just didn't have fun with them. I'd like to really see a rogue-like element implemented where completing certain challenges will unlock weapons/passives to appear in runs (get a combo of 25, 50, 100, make it to shop without getting hit, etc.) Through all my runs I only had one bug that killed a run. Somehow I jumped through a wall and just fell for eternity, so I think there needs to be some code written to respawn at the last hop point after so many seconds of falling. Actually, I hopped on some random things here and there before infinitely falling so maybe spawn near an enemy to avoid infinitely respawning in a void. Ultimately, I had fun with this game and for the price of free it's definitely worth playing even if its currently lacking replayability in its current state.

After completing the game 100%, I can confidently say that Another Crab's Treasure is a great game to add to your library! The comparison to Souls-like games is apparent, but this game carries its own charm through an enjoyable experience. Don't be afraid of the comparison though because this game is a bit easier than your standard Souls game making it a great entry for anyone curious about playing a more difficult than average game.

Throughout my playthrough, I kept getting the vibe that this is what a PS2 game would feel like in a modern era. There's definitely jank. There's definitely cheese. The game ebbs and flows allowing you to not feel constantly pressured. The boss battles are great and offer you a challenge with some being quite humorous as well.

The plethora of characters and dialogue are sure to keep you smiling through the deaths. Level design is okay on a gameplay level, but better in its aesthetics. THE MUSIC. These OSTs are awesome. Seriously, there's not a bad one. There are so many references in this game you're sure to get a laugh from. The overall story is decent, but doesn't really ramp up until the last quarter of the game (at least, that's where I finally felt the hook).

Concerning bugs, yeah, there's some bugs. I've had weird momentum bugs where Kril gets launched for no apparent reason (usually up, thank you no fall damage). There's an issue with getting 100% of the Umami crystals in the game right now, but you don't need 100% to unlock everything in the game (or achievements). More than a few times I've been trapped by the terrain in certain areas, infinitely falling. Or worse, landing on a ledge where there is no return, falling into the abyss, and being respawned back on the same ledge of no return (quite annoying when one has many microplastics). I think the worst bug is the menu navigation for the adaptation moves and stowaways. For the adaptations, when I press left and right the cursor does not always go the way I want it to. Eventually I select the one I need by pressing all the directions but it's still annoying. For the stowaways if I hit down too much my cursor gets lost off the page and I have to close the menu and reopen it to get my cursor back. There's more than a few quality of life improvements that this game needs to feel polished, but nothing that's going to make you regret buying this game.

If you like action RPGs, this is your game hands down. 8/10 (with bug fixes and quality of life improvements this easily gets a 9/10)

100% Achievement Review

A must-have if you enjoy Rogue-Likes!

I came from Risk of Rain 2, having logged an absurd amount of hours into that game. I've also never played the original numero uno. This game has now become my favorite of the series. The graphic redesign is amazing, and the accompanying soundtrack has some new classics to add to your library. There's so much to unlock (I've even still got a few log entries to go), and the new Providence Trials add some intense challenges with mostly good rewards. Runs in this game compared to RoR2 are noticeably more difficult, especially on Monsoon. The RNG can really affect your run this time around, where I felt in RoR2 you can make just about anything work. The new characters are diverse in play style so I'm sure you'll find a survivor you will like to play. Runs with friends are enjoyable, but I feel are a tad more difficult than it should be with the lack of items being very noticeable. There's also a nice option to enable if you've got some greedy friends who don't like to share items. The logbook adds a lot of lore to the series which was something I greatly enjoyed about RoR2 as well.

Should you 100% the game?

You absolutely SHOULD unlock every item! There are some really powerful ones that will greatly increase the success of your runs.

You don't NEED to unlock all the alternate moves, but some are vastly superior to the originals depending on the survivor. *ahemCyclone* Excuse me.

You don't need to GOLD RANK all the Providence Trials. No extra content, no secret achievements (You do need 15 though for one achievement though). Just bragging rights! If you'd like some assistance getting Gold Rank, please check out my YouTube Channel as I am making a video for each trial with tips for success.

Thanks for checking out my review. You should definitely add this to your Library :3

This was my first Armored Core game I've ever played, and I mostly enjoyed it. I've completed it 100% and I've got plenty of opinions on the game.

The Good:
Single Player experience and story is great!
Many varied weapons and parts to build unique functioning mechs.
Custom paint/decal system lets you add the final touches to your fashion mech.
PvP!
Some banger music tracks.
Sound design is amazing.
Controls feel tight, but do take some getting used to.
Graphics are stellar!

The Bad:
Some bad single player missions (one's an escort).
Lack of music tracks.
PvP is broken into regions (good) but splits the U.S. in two (bad).
PvP does not have matchmaking or ranking.
No PvP incentives.
Many broken builds/weapons for both campaign/PvP.
No 100% completion reward.
S-ranking all missions gives a lackluster reward not worth the effort.
Some folks say the voice acting's bad, but it's just the "over the radio" filter put over every voice. It gets tedious.
No ranking in campaign missions.

I think this game is a great add to any library, but be prepared for a difficult game. I'm a Souls veteran and died many times to all the bosses. After I finished 2 playthroughs though I was breezing through the game and its bosses with little stress. Just play persistent and be willing to change up your mech to better handle the current mission at hand.

I do not think that this game is worth completing 100%. However, if you aim for that goal do not worry about farming money. You will have excess money just for completing the 3 necessary playthroughs for all the endings, plus the additional 1 and some to S-rank all the missions. Yep, that's right. Campaign playthroughs don't get ranked. You have to go back and play it again to get a rank.

I firmly believe that it should be a goal for any player to obtain all the parts if you're aiming to be good at PvP. It's also a good idea so that you can make the mech you like to play the most.

Most of my squabbles can easily be crushed with some QoL patches.
