11 years in Early Access with a full release now on the way, all this and substantial promised features have been dropped.

This game is like a mix of Dwarf Fortress and RimWorld as others have mentioned, however diving into managing a faction without getting too attached to individual characters. It's all about growing your faction while dodging internal stability issues and once you grow large enough - external threats.

Some menus are a pain to find your way around, and the Research Tree is cumbersome. You have to keep maintaining it with researchers and libraries as your "paid" Research Points aren't a one-time purchase. Feels like an unnecessary hurdle to slow down your progression without it being "fun".

Zones like in RimWorld where workers are assigned tasks are also a bit confusing, as far as I could figure out you can't expand a zone, ex. warehouse without your citizens tearing down the wall then expanding thus making your active warehouse idle and dropping all your loot on the ground (making your population upset thinking they have no food stored). In RimWorld you simply expand the room outside of the wall, build it, tear down the wall between the rooms and easily merge without it taking 6 months in-game

So, is it worth it? Yeah, I think so. The devs seem to listen to feedback. Thankfully, the demo gives you a decent taste of what's to come, even if it's a couple of versions behind. I was however surprised to find the game more difficult in the latest patch (v65) than the Demo made it seem.

This has to be the most infuriating dev tool I've ever had to handle, but when it miraculously works for no reason at all - it feels pretty good.
