Kenshi is a unique beast. It's not the most beautiful game, can be quite glitchy at times especially when it comes to AI pathfinding, and it lacks a lot of the polish that big budget titles have. However, where Kenshi shines is it's sheer depth.

I cannot remember the last time I played a sandbox game that gives the player this much true freedom. Whether you want to play the game like a solo character, wandering the wasteland and grinding your stats - or perhaps you want to run a crew of thieves or ninjas, stealing and assassinating your way up the political ladder - Even if you have the vision of a mighty warlord with a desire to recruit and train an army, constructing cities and monuments to your greatness across the wasteland. It's all entirely up to you, and most importantly it's all fun.

I've sunk hours into constructing a Rum and Hash farm with my little clique of warriors, sprinting over the harsh desert into the swamp to sell our wares, antagonizing the Holy Nation every chance we get. Even with over 100+ hours on a single playthrough, I am excited to start a new game with a whole new play-style and approach. I think that type of joy and replay-ability is quite rare nowadays.

Extensive modding takes care of the majority of the issues you might run into, in addition to providing an plethora of new content.

Despite all it's flaws - Kenshi has been one of the most enjoyable and fulfilling game experiences I've had in recent years.

Melee Planetside meets Black Desert Online

Node-based territorial combat
Large-scale PVP that's fairly satisfying
Solo quests act as a decent tutorial

If it looks interesting to you, it's definitely worth a try ~ especially when it's on sale

Incredible Machine Nostalgia through the roof. A fun update with lots of new mechanics for playing around with. If you played the original as a child or just enjoy physics-based puzzle games, it's definitely worth a look!

7/10 - "Fun but Underwhelming"
  • Looks pretty, but could be nicer.
  • Battles are fun. Destroying enemy Mechs is satisfying. Missions can become repetitive and monotonous.
  • Management simulator lacks depth (Star Travel, New Recruits, Ship Customization)
  • Mech Management interesting but lacks freedom (lots of Hardpoint policing, unless modded)
  • Story is interesting enough to keep you engaged

I would have liked to see the art direction take a few more risks even if it is true to the battletech universe. The "Chess" game played during battle NEEDS to be explored and expanded more. As it stands, there are just not enough tools in the toolbox to make battles truly exciting. Other turn-based tactical games will often have many different ways to complete a scenario, from stealth to strength to inventory et cetera. There is just not the tactical depth needed to make this a truly amazing game. I honestly got to the point playing the campaign i just wanted to *Auto-Battle* which is not necessarily a good sign for the combat portion of the game....

I look forward to seeing where this franchise goes - if they develop a few things like the management simulation and diversifying combat options - Battletech 2 has potential to be great!

Was a cute auto-path MMORPG with a lot of the charm of Ragnarok - unfortunately after locking a ton of things behind paywalls the game does not even launch anymore. RIP.

GranAge is a cute side scrolling MMORPG with Dungeons, mild platforming, some co-op and PVP options. Dungeon stages are entered by spending *Fatigue* - an energy system utilized by the game. Each player is given a set amount of energy every day depending on your level. The developers have recently launched North American servers - though they are not stable, it's a nice addition. One of the highlights of this game is the "Chain Art" cards - a system of randomly drawn and upgrade-able attack modifiers that are represented by adorable animations, usually getting quite quirky especially with some of the higher cards I have seen. It's a humorous injection into an otherwise vanilla fantasy setting. The classes are fun to explore, with quite different strategies needed to excel in each.

Pros:
♥ Oldschool Style Side-Scrolling RPG with cute Art style ♥
♥ Unique "Chain Art" card system, collectible and cute! ♥
♥ VERY friendly community even if it's small ♥
♥ Virtually empty Cash-Shop, so P2W is essentially impossible currently ♥

Cons:
X Literally a reboot/release of a 10+ year-old game X
X NA servers just launched but they are INCREDIBLY unreliable - sometimes being up for only a few hours then down for 10-12 at a time X
X Silent Devs - almost no communication or reconciliation for server down times - with the community left guessing what will happen next in Discord X
X gameplay can be very grindy X
X not a lot of cosmetic/pet content currently available, would love to see more! X

Summary: As for some of the critiques I have seen - the Fatigue/Energy system has not been an issue for me yet - unless you are grinding ceaselessly or entering high Fatigue Dungeons on repeat it shouldn't be an issue. The game itself is pretty adorable, the combat is strangely satisfying, especially after you've got a few cute Chain Art cards setup. If you're looking for something slightly oldschool with that mid-2000's browser game charm, this might be fun for you and I think it's worth a try if you're interested!

Idk for what it's worth it's fun. I've never spent any money on Atoms. I take my time. There is a little bit of grind but i've gotten a ton of hours of fun from this one. Get it on sale if possible. Don't rush things. Play with other people.

For what it is, Black Desert Online is a lot of fun. It's beautiful, combat is pretty fun especially when you explore different classes, nice world-building and a beautiful OST. As for the obvious concert I see a lot of people having regarding P2W content - I will say that I purchased BDO on sale for 4 bucks and haven't dropped a penny in since, still i've gotten almost 300 hours of fun. I truly believe the key to this is TAKING IT SLOW! Everything about the way the game is setup at this point is geared towards accelerating gameplay to such a point where you become reliant on the buffs and temporary upgrades. A few things I would recommend new players do to avoid burnout chasing the *endgame* and high levels for really no reason.

1. Ignore PVP. - it's not that great, and is really the only incentive to speed-grind through the game.
2. Don't use Newbie Servers - it might seem like a no-brainer as a new player to hop in the special servers for *new or returning players* that over massive buffs to experience gain. It may SEEM great at first glance, but the result is folks power-leveling to 55 with little-to-no effort, leaving no time to absorb the world, the story and the geography, which is where I feel BDO shines.
3. Balance your gameplay - especially in lower levels, you can avoid the need for any pearl shop buffs or P2W items by simply diversifying your playing style. Don't waste money to fill energy back up, just process some mats for a while and get back to gathering later. Take two trips instead of one if you cannot fit/carry your load, don't purchase inventory space upgrades.

Maybe it's bizarre advice but I feel like you can chill out and take this one slow, and you'll get a lot more enjoyment than simply racing towards the *finish*. Without taking the bait of accelerated gameplay i've gotten a lot of enjoyment out of this one and honestly see myself putting a few more hundred hours into it before burning out. If you like MMO's and are curious, throw it on the wishlist and pick it up on sale.

For what it is, it's a fun time. I played for a while and never spent a dime. Hardly a "MMORPG" in the traditional sense, but the dungeons are fun, combat is decent and the world is unique.
