I nabbed this game while it was on sale because it reminded me of an old flash game I used to play as a kid (I think it was called Bread Winner? I could be wrong though)
I used to really love playing that flash game, so when I saw lightfish and how similar it looked in gameplay, I figured I'd give it a try, and I really wasn't disappointed.

Light fish is basically a much more nicely designed/more aesthetically pleasing than the flash game ever was, but with the same basic gameplay mechanics (and a few new interesting ones at higher levels)

It's an absolutely gorgeous game, and is excellent for people who sometimes just want to play something a little more casual and relaxing. The purpose of the game is to section off jellyfish and other similar creatures into small blocks, destroying them and gaining points. The level ends when all creatures are gotten rid of, and you are scored on your efficiency and speed in finishing the level.

It's definitely worth grabbing (especially on sale), and is a nice little game to play between less casual games or if you're a bit on the tired side.
It's also fairly nostalgic for me in a weird kind of way, since it reminds me so much of the game I used to play online as a kid.

The first time I saw this game was several years ago on the wii shop channel, I was rather surprised to find it on steam, let alone for only about 3-4 bucks CAD.

The gameplay itself is simple enough to understand and rather easy to get used to- it's a sort of puzzle platformer that can be enjoyable for people like myself who don't really like having too many difficult puzzles- the puzzles are there, and they require a bit of thought, but are still rather casual and easily enjoyed. (except for maybe the last couple of 'puzzles' but i wont go into that since its spoilers for the storyline)

The graphics are pretty good, you can optimize it according to your PC and it has options for anti-aliased and non, so it can either be more pixelated looking, or super smooth (both of which look rather good imo) It runs well, and the background music is calming- it isn't overbearing or nonexistent, it does it's job and does it well.

The story is alright, it isn't bad, but I definitely wish they had dedicated a little more to the game overall, as the storyline can be finished rather quickly.
A character round mid-game says something that seemed to imply a much more exciting final puzzle, but when it came time to solve it, it fell a bit short. I wasn't hoping for anything grandiose, considering the games age and original platform, but something a little better than what was there definitely wouldn't have hurt. Don't get me wrong here, the overall story is pretty interesting and definitely enjoyable, I just wish there was a bit more playtime involved in reaching the end of it.

The only real thing I can think of that was a for-sure negative in this game is that there are a few spelling/grammar mistakes here and there, but they aren't overly noticeable, or terribly commonplace, so I can forgive it.

Overall, a very good game, easy controls, not too difficult and thus very enjoyable for people looking for a more relaxed/casual platformer (though it can get intense at times, it's nothing too bad). Wish it had more gameplay between start and finish, but a good and fairly inexpensive game nonetheless

Decided to check back in on this game after realizing there hadn't been any updates for a while (2 years to be exact) - was incredibly disappointed to see the game out of early access with pretty well no gameplay changes, as I had high hopes for this game.

However, the developers seem to have completely abandoned it in the same state it was in during early access.

The graphics are pretty, and the music is nice enough, however neither of these make up for the lack of gameplay or other problems the game has.

You can take quests from some people, though it never really seems to actually do anything beyond getting you one or two items. no story progression ever happens. You're given an excellent framework for a story, but nothing else, there's no substance to it. The story seems to just be a reason for why you turn into a deer, because after that it hardly gets mentioned in any sort of depth. It gets very repetitive very quickly, and you will get bored after the novelty wears off.

It's also incredibly easy to fall off the map. This is the games other biggest issue aside from the lack of story/gameplay/substance in general. Once you fall off the map, you are stuck there. You can jump, and you can move, and if you jump high enough you might even see your little pixel deer pop his head up on the bottom of the screen - but there is no way that i have found to get yourself back up to the terrain.

To put it simply, this game is not finished. This game is nowhere near finished. The developer seems to have just lost interest and decided to lazily say it's done so they don't have to bother with it anymore.

I genuinely had high hopes for this game, the story setup seemed interesting and the graphics were beautiful and unique, but it is not worth the 16.99CAD. Don't waste your money on this.

An absolutely amazing visual novel, though the reader influence is minimal it's still important, and your decisions can have consequences. The art and music are simply beautiful, and the storyline and characters are engaging. It's a good start to what will (hopefully) continue as an amazing visual novel series (due to financial issues, episode 2 is unfortunately on hold). Dischan media continues to put out quality content, if you've never heard of them give "Junipers knot"(completely free on itunes) a try to get a sense of what you can expect from them art and music-wise. The writing in both visual novels is stunning, and Dysfunctional systems has become one of my favourite visual novels.

It is most definitely worth the 5 dollars, and I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys visual novels.
