Extremely buggy. Extremely crashy. Extremely poor performance on high-end machines. Boss design so bad it would ruin the game experience even if the former three things weren't the case. Whoever designed the combos for most of the bosses should probably be fired on the spot. The bosses don't even feel remotely Star Wars to fight.
The platforming is okay at times, but there's way too few elements which are massively overused, making the platforming just boring very quickly, and you'll still have to continue doing it every 5 minutes throughout the entire game.
When the game somehow works and you're not in a boss fight, it can be alright. At best.

Extremely promising foundation that I'm very excited to see the future of, the systems and mechanics in the game so far are super innovative and feel really good to use. Only problem is there's so little game to explore. I'm waiting for more content and features, but the game is definitely gonna be a gem if it continues along this path.

This game suffers in various areas while having some cool things going for it. However, even the cool things are too shallow and aren't really worth it. This is not a game that should be considered a finished or full product. It's very short and a lot of things feel buggy and unfinished. The drillships are kinda cool, but you can only surface in dedicated spots even when you find spots that would accommodate the ship just fine outside of those. There's no drillship to drillship combat, it's just you on foot attacking an enemy drillship and robots on foot and with 'vehicles' that attack your drillship. There's a ton of systems, but there's very poor overviews of what's where on your ship and when it gets big, it's hard to remember where you put the modules. There's very little explanation of what modules are necessary to have on your ship.
The story is also terrible, there's hardly any writing gone into the game at all. The map is small and most of it you will not see unless you go out of your way and you also have time limits to get back to the ship before the next eruption, which limits exploration. You're not even safe to explore in underground caves even though the basement of a regular house with no closed door is perfectly safe.

The game had potential, but it's been put together in such a mediocre way with so many features that just aren't deep at all.

This is an absolute travesty of a launch and it is absolutely unacceptable. I crash at least 3-4 times per hour of gameplay, the performance on the campaign map in particular is inexcusably poor, and I am completely locked out of playing multiplayer. The game is refusing to connect to the internet despite no firewalls or antiviruses, the game having been cleanly reinstalled, cleanly reinstalled on a different drive, multiple times verified integrity of game files, and various other "fixes." Customer support has been unable to help me fix this issue, which means I'm unable to play with my friends who have to play without me.

Please leave negative reviews to let CA and Sega know that this kind of launch is not acceptable. Take another month or two if you need it to make the game you release actually functional.

And while you're at it, make a more complete game. The number of factions in this release is pathetic and several of them have tiny and uninteresting unit rosters. I know you can do better, but you're not, because you want to milk this cash cow with DLCs required to make this game complete. It's a disgusting practice that has taken the video game industry in a horrible direction. Gone are the days of games being released functional and complete and then adding on expansions or sequels, and arrived are the days of having to assemble the game like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ jigsaw puzzle where you have to pay for each individual piece after paying full, premium price for the box with a fifth of the pieces you need.

This might be the last Total War title I ever buy unless you learn from your mistakes and do better.

Brutally difficult. Some minor bugs, but for the most part smooth sailing. A few issues that need to be worked out and a couple slightly silly mechanics (in that bunnyhopping is an effective method of stealth killing enemies etc), but generally an incredibly good game. Well worth the pricetag.

Completely unplayable. Doesn't matter how good your computer is, this game crashes and it crashes frequently. A few might get lucky and not have those issues, but it's utterly impossible to get anywhere. Fix your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game before you release it. It's not that hard. Try to get over your greed for consumer dollars and release a product that's at least mostly finished. Not this. The game itself, if remotely functional, would be great. In this state, it's garbage, and no one should buy it until they do their damn jobs and fix it. Pathetic effort.

I've played this game for a decently long time as a killer main, though I also have played a lot of survivor. I just uninstalled the game today until the devs actually do something about the fact that at high levels of play, the game is so heavily favored towards survivors it is actively nauseating. Every perk run by survivors lets them get away with playing exceedingly poorly and still winning by a large margin. I've played both sides and let me tell you, at high levels of play, survivor is easy coasting along and you almost never have to try hard once you understand the game. As killer at the same levels of play, with the same understanding of the game, the game is brutally difficult and you will rarely win unless you are one of the few killers with 5000+ hours of experience and no life outside of the game (which are the only ones who are capable of keeping up with the survivors).

This game is not balanced for the survivors having voice comms, which is why the Survive With Friends party mechanic completely breaks the game, on top of survivor perks being stupidly strong.

I'll change my review to recommend this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and reinstall my game as soon as the devs split the queue into casual/unranked with SWF and ranked solo only play, but that's unlikely to happen because the devs don't understand their own game or what makes it "work," which makes them terrified of making real changes to it. Hell, it's taken them three and a half years so far to implement a penalty for ragequitting and ruining the match for everyone (which has led to the game being just a DC-fest for survivors as soon as the match isn't going their way), and it still isn't implemented properly. I am genuinely of the opinion that this is one of the worst developers in the business and that they've absolutely 100% lucked out with this game so far. They have not done a good job on anything but the visual design. They introduce more bugs than features with every DLC and they aren't fixing the most glaring ones (that also somehow seem to affect killers disproportionately more than survivors). This game doesn't deserve the playerbase that it has, and BHVR doesn't seem to care much about their playerbase at all.

tl;dr, don't get the game unless you love unbalanced piles of toxicity in which you will be flamed to ♥♥♥♥ in the postgame chat regardless of match result and reporting does nothing. Playerbase is more toxic than LoL.

An excellent game that's actually innovated and created a trench warfare game mode that feels good to play. Cover is immensely important and when assaulting another trench across no man's land, you just have to throw yourself into any trench or crater you find or you will surely perish. The game rewards competent players and teams who work together to take the enemy trench and push the line forwards. The only real problems are the clunkiness of the movement at times and the extremely small playerbase. You'll usually just be playing against the same set of people over and over. There's absolutely nowhere close to enough players to keep this game alive longterm, which is sad. Unless the developers can somehow bring in a fresh influx of players, this game will die.

Could have been great if the world was more expansive and it played harder towards a Banjo Kazooie-esque feel, as well as if the controls weren't absolute garbage. The controls are heavily inconsistent and moving side to side to move faster quickly becomes 'move to one side until your snake has coiled up completely.' As is, do not buy this game. It's extremely frustrating how you keep dying through no fault of your own, exclusively caused by the ♥♥♥♥ controls.

No one should purchase this game. There are more glitches and bugs than there are players who bought in and it's not getting better. With more than 3 million concurrent players on the regular these developers can afford better servers, but they don't give a ♥♥♥♥ because they've already made their millions. This is the worst game to make it popular in recent years. They slammed together a ♥♥♥♥ sandwich for about 20 bucks and now they're raking in billions from everyone who thought the sandwich looked tasty. If you play this game, odds are extremely good you'll never queue up for a game and play it to finish without encountering at least three different bugs. Of course, as a nice garnish on the ♥♥♥♥ sandwich they've added microtransactions in a premium game. Absolute cancer.
