ultimately what you see is what you get. it's a game about cleaning stuff. there is a career mode where you can only do one job after one job and it's paced nicely, remembering to not put very long boring jobs next to one another. it's relieving to get a simple job like a vehicle. they have added plenty of content like new jobs to the career over the past years, including a multiplayer mode, but now seem to be shifting to focusing only on paid DLC expansions.

powerwash simulator always remembers it is still a video game. in real life if you were powerwashing something, one would think utilizing the run-off would speed up the process. that is, starting from the top and the water washing down the sides of the object would help clean the object quicker. such a feature is not present in this game. i feel like the objects do not have to be 100% dirty on every single perceivable angle. the way this is programmed the exact same code could be used to make a game about painting cars. playing powerwash simulator is essentially equivalent to opening mspaint, selecting the spray paint tool, and holding the mouse button until the entire canvas is painted. it's a long and arduous process to get anything fully clean. you also have to deal with things like rust and mold, which means stepping your nozzle size down and slowing down a bit, but that is the realism side to this and that is critically fair.

therein comes the big help, you can buy soaps, extensions, and even better powerwashing equipment from the profit you earn off completing jobs to help clean the finer details faster. to me the game is not any fun at all and is simply a tedious chore when you have no upgrades.

the bads are as follows, including the fact that everything is 100% dirty on all surfaces: the game is very stingy about how close you're allowed to be to an object, shuts your water off, and holsters your equipment for being too close, which feels awful. this especially applies to the extensions. it's also very stingy about where you're allowed to place ladders, only allowed pre-defined locations for it, and the scaffolding cannot be placed anywhere within an unreasonably large buffer against objects, which feels like a massive limit on player freedom. player movement also feels very floaty, slow, and as if you have quite a lot of friction. you can press tab to highlight where dirt is, and it highlights orange, but there is a confusingly common usage of the color orange for objects, which camouflages the dirt. this made the carousel and slide job particularly anti-fun. i also feel like tab highlighting for dirt turns itself off again too quickly. i think it should be a toggle, or a 'hold to use' kind of thing. my pinky is usually very sore after only a single job from slamming tab the whole time.

the worst i can possibly say about my experience is that the final 2% of any job is never fun at all. you have a high chance of feeling 'stuck' because you cannot find the last of the dirt to complete the job, even if you know exactly what object it is, but that is always entirely on you for not paying any attention and spraying with reckless abandon. for this situation you are allowed to open your tablet and analyze which objects aren't fully clean, click them, and they will strobe white. there were a couple of times where this absolutely did not help. an itemized list of still dirty objects shows up on the UI when you are nearly done.

got it for 5 bucks on sale. it was very much worth it at that price. it's sandbox style, open world, full of collectibles, it's got cars, and there's some light world destruction which are all things that are right up my alley. there is enough completion content for at least five games. there's hundreds of characters, cars, and tons of customization options as well. unless you really like a collection marathon game i'd recommend just beating the story once or replaying just the missions you liked and stop playing there. you're required to beat the story at least once before you're allowed to do a full 100% completion, and there's quite a lot of locked content in the freeroam you can't do immediately without finishing most to all of the story missions first, so most of the freeroam content gets ignored during your first playthrough. playing all the missions 100% again wasn't a bad time. you'll get a little bit of new unlockable content when you have new abilities unlocked. now here's the butter of the review: the freeroam 100% completion was an extremely boring grind and not fun or satisfying at all, since you're just doing the same things over and over, and often being forced by the game design to do the same things over and over. i wouldn't recommend doing 100% completion even if you have nothing better to do. aside from that, the story didn't overstay its welcome and the writing and content are pretty great. i laughed out loud at quite a lot of the silly humor especially the voice recordings while looking for criminal activity. there really isn't any fun in sandboxing in this game even with everything unlocked, since there's not much at all to do but unlock things. will likely check out another lego game, but i'm certainly never 100% completing one of them again.

new vegas is the best fallout and i enjoy it very much. it's worth very long, multiple playthroughs with many character builds to consider.

not listed above this review is the thousands of hours i spent playing a pirated copy because i had no money when it came out and this game has no DRM. i bought the complete collection on steam.

only downside is this game runs like a pile of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥ on modern systems. even with anti-crash, anti-stutter, and a bunch of performance-enhancing mods, nothing completely fixes these crashes. (EDIT: NVM fixed it ;DD) it will still crash to desktop and leave a horrible grinding noise until i reboot my PC. i played all day yesterday and i ♥♥♥♥ you not i rebooted my PC at least 16 times.

personally love how terrible the engine is, how bad the game looks, how horribly this engine stood the test of time, it's all hysterical to me, but i just hate those random crash to desktops.

recommended because it is free and has loads of options for customizing your POV. SVP (Smooth Video Project) supports this software meaning you can interpolate lower framerate video to match that of your headset (90+fps) automatically. nice feature i did not expect to have.

two cons would be there is a bug when the game launches alongside steamVR where the audio does not automatically switch to your headset, requiring you to relaunch the software or manually switch audio sources. this is kinda dangerous for the reason we all know people are using this software for. this is most likely a steam or windows bug which is out of DeoVR's control so don't knock them for it.

another thing that this software does not have that i wish it did would be a feature to automatically detect which type of 3D video is playing. it'd really polish the experience as it's a bit immersion-breaking to load a video and have it skewed around or in letterboxes, then swapping around settings until you pick the right one. i noticed another VR video player has this feature, but i'd rather use DeoVR because it is a nice piece of software.

if you're wondering, the soundtrack is full quality 320kbps MP3 files, not like the heavily compressed OGG files that come with the game, and it also comes with some bonus albums by Chowder Man, Klyfta and Zared.

Early Access Review
the objective is clear: drink as much as possible, get stronger, start a bar fight and knock the snot and pulp out everyone that wants a piece of you.

really fun party title. you'll want to show this to your friends for sure, but it's also a blast to play alone. physical hits feel incredibly satisfying. punch someone square in the face, smash two bottles between their heads, or break a stool over their back. props are everywhere so use them. some are overpowered so keep a look out. you might also be surprised with what you can even use as a weapon.

this is, by the way, the most dangerous VR title for your physical posessions so far. some may have cited this as a flaw, some have even claimed to have broken their controllers, but that's not the game's fault. be careful, clean your play areas up, and remember you don't actually have to hit as hard as you think. would not recommend if your play space is physically limited and won't allow for a lot of flailing your arms.

absolutely loved this. a must own VR title. it's quite a short experience but more content is planned and much anticipated.
