What a worthy successor!

+ Very nice voice acting (English)
+ Wonderful gameplay
+ A game where veteran has to be taken serious
+ Very good atmosphere
+ Really cool missions
+ The Zone

- minor bugs (barely noticeable)
- exxagerated eye adaptation
- huge disk size
- expensive

Runs well on native 4k with 6900 XT and AM4 in Windows
Runs okay with upscaled 4k on 6600 XT and AM5 in Linux
No lags, no stuttering (except a once in 10 hours 30 sec super lag)
For low end, use upscaling, use the developers own FSR/DLSS alternative and don't turn on frame insertion.

My view on some often heard negative points:
- Enemies are bullet sponges:
Used to be. I think it was rebalanced, at least it feels that way now. You will learn how and where to run, how to aim and what gun to use. E.g. against bloodsuckers, take a trusty shotgun, listen to where they approach from, wait for the right moment to shoot them in the face, then sidestep. Playing on Veteran.
You can also outrun them, and come back when you're ready, Gothic-style.

- Enemies spawn out of nowhere:
Used to be, did not happen to me last weekend, probably fixed.

- Quests are bugged:
Can't confirm. Have not encountered any gamebreaking or annoying bug so far. Okay, I took my time and have only 37 hours in the 4 weeks since release, so maybe they were all continuously patched upfront. Took Warden route. Current quest "Deal with the Devil"

- Map is lifeless:
You are not playing Battlefield

- Loot is often boring:
You are not playing Diablo

Lets be honest. Who can reasonably own a graphics card to play Cyberpunk 2077 with high fidelity graphics right now.

So why not just pay 20 bucks to play a brand new game with gorgeous atmosphere instead with your graphics card from 2014 (gtx 970 for 380 bucks when it was brand new mind you).

My thoughts are with all those of you that - like me - cannot or want not stem up a four digit sum to buy a new graphics card.

Btw. the game is great!

It has been long since I got that sucked into a game. The Long Dark is incredibly immersive. Everything feels just so right and physically and logically correct, be it thawing and drying your clothes at the fire or tearing apart shirts to make bandages. The cold feels so real it makes you shiver and it gives you that kind of relieved fuzzy feeling when you finally make it so shelter.

The graphics are simple, yet in their own way very beautiful. The basic art style leaves the - in my opinion - precious room for imagination. Seldom have I seen a sunrise so hauntingly beautiful or waterfalls this colorful.

There has been much effort spent on details, like that when are moving, the more water you carry, the more you hear it sloshing. Or that you can backtrack your footprints when you get lost (done that) or follow blood trails of predators you wounded. Or just the fact that you can't find everything everywhere, but have to look in the right places, e.g. small stones near caves. You also have to take care of your belongings, e.g. always pick up the cooking pot again and take it with you, taking account for its weight. You never know if this was the last pot you will find for a long time. Or the fact that you will see yourself advancing the cylinder between every cartridge you add to your revolver.

But what I like most about the game is the sound stage. From an unsettling howling storm to the pleasant quietness afterwards, where you only hear your steps in the harsh and actually stop your gait to listen to the sounds in the silence around you.
And even the rumbling of an avalanche is mastered so well it really makes your hifi shine and gives you an uneasy feeling as your room is shaking.

And everything together with a real, desperate purpose, unlike other "survival" games, well written and voiced.

This game has some well done atmosphere, e.g. the audio dialogs during the loading screen, the enemies cheering their boss's name during a fight, unaware enemies having funny talks etc.
The sound effects themselves are beautiful, shattering blasts, loads of spoken dialogs and not only in cutscenes.
You can ride Caragors!
Unlocked skills really change the gameplay in a satisfying way.
When surrounded by enemies it indeed feels as if they all try to hit you and you got to move and block them all - not like in Assassins Creed where they attack in turns and wait for you until you are through with your finishers.
The game truly lets you feel like the terrifying avenger that you are.
Runs surprisingly okay on my Laptop's Intel HD Graphics 620.

I might not have delved in the combat mechanics enough, but I somehow found the Forgotten Realms games to be more satisfying in that respect.
It is nevertheless a good game, but it did not meet my expectations after all that fuss about it.
Also I couldn't really warm up with the characters. I still vividly remember Minsk and Boo or Jaheira whereas I can't remember any of the characters in PoE
I am still to play any Extension though.

A somewhat slow and tedious start and still - gripping until the very end.

Gothic as you know it.

Oh how I was struggling. Entering event after event with my tiny 1960 Mini Cooper trying to be first place but it would never happen. Always seeking the compromise between speed and not slipping off the edge, always thinking 'yes this was it' just to see that the other guy beat me by 7 seconds even.
Oh how satisfying it was when I got the handbrake drift around a hairpin corner figured out.
How relieved did I feel when reaching the end of the track after a night rally with cockpit only sight when my two dim headlights got cracked mid-track and I could barely figure out where the road was going.
And was I laughing when I finally figured out how to drive custom events against the community delta and I beat the time by 1 minute.

This game is all about mastering and not giving up. It runs very well on older hardware too like on a laptop with Intel graphics for example but I prefer to play it on my pc with my G27 wheel, which is a blast.

I can definitely recommend this difficult simulation even considered that I usually play games like Need For Speed or Wreckfest. By the way, the gravel drifting in Wreckfest, for me, was like a stepping stone into the no-grip world of Dirt Rally.

For those who missed the feeling of the original two Flatout games.

Juicy race tracks, upgradeable cars, everything can go to pieces.
Agressive AI, makes you swear.
Although mastering tracks is satisfying, being first over the finishing line is very satisfying too, even if the ways you fought for it were a bit sketchy.
Other nice things are the carreer mode, special car events, suspension tuning etc.

What stands out is that Wreckfest manages to display and make audible over 20 rampant cars on the same track crashing into the next corner including tires flinging around, fences breaking and fenders denting in without breaking a sweat.

It's a frickin' Masterpiece.

The story, the views, the well scripted action, all the detailed setting in every corner, nothing feels repetitive.

Even the shooter parts for themselves are really satisfying.

I can obviously recommend it.

Road Redemption steps in the footpath of the classic Road Rash. And it does well.
In the beginning the game felt like too hard to beat. You would constantly have to shift your attention from saving your skin, following up the target and actually watch the road.
But by time - skill and permanent upgrades come and let you get through more and more levels.
This feels rewarding even when you finally loose your progress.
A big pluspoint in my opinion - split screen functionality and controller support. Slapping those tough kids down together with your friend is so much more fun.
