I have been playing destiny 2 since the launch in 2017. Back then the game was really lackluster, it didn't have a lot of in depth gameplay and certainly didn't have the amount of content it has now.

a lot has changed over these past 3 years. There are seasons which means every few months a content drop is being released which only last for a few months. some of them are really good and some of them are lackluster. Also most if not all of the gameplay mechanics got changed making the game play and feel completely different.

So if you would download I would recommend a few things. This game isn't what it used to be you will be overwhelmed with all the stuff you can do. So the first few days and even weeks will be just figuring out and researching online. Watch populair destiny content creators like Datto, Aztecross Gaming or KackisHD who do a lot of guides and give a lot of information about events that are happening at the moment. begin with just playing the story and you will
probably figure out a lot of stuff yourself.

so the last 2 things I wanted to talk about is the future of destiny 2. because even though the game is out since 2017, the developers said they want to bring yearly expantions and seasons to the game for at least another 3 years.
so first of all destiny 2 is a big game with at this moment around 100 GB. The devs want the game to stay at a size like this. therefore the decided they will remove some of the content you can play and even some of the locations (planets) you can roam arround. As a veteran I dont really care because I have played these on these locations a before and already don't visit them anymore. At this point of time the only stuff which will get "vaulted" from the game are some of the planets used in the fist campain, the Leviathan ship which consist out of a raid and a gamemode which in my opinion where great but dont really serve a purpose anymore.If you would download the game after the upcomming dlc on September 2020 then yes you would miss out on some of the content but it isn't the worst thing.

So the second an last thing I want to adress is the sunsetting of weapons and armor. destiny 2 is a game which is build on light level. Every account starts and the cap this season is at 1060. next season it will increase with about 50 again and so on. this is done so the players have a purpose to grind for and so some activities easy from the moment you start it. For example you a cetrain activitie like a nightfall sais you need to be 1050 but you are 1020. You can still do it but it would be a lot harden then when you would be 1050.

so what am I getting at. weapons dropped will now have a max light level you can reach. if the y are at this cap they cant be infused anymore and are weak in new activities which are a higher light level. This does not mean that the weapons you grinded for are useless, it can still be used in the activeties which are at lower or no light level. Bungie does this so the weapons they release wont be too op or too lackluster. and if they are too op it wont be for ever so they don't need to nerf it into the ground. A lot of people are angy at bungie for doing this.

so would I recommend desteny 2, yes I would. Is it a game for everyone? no it isn't but the basegame is already free and its in my opinion just worth it to atleast give it a try and see for youself.
