Credit where it's due, they walked back the PSN sign-in requirement. This is otherwise a good game that does not deserve the negative review score it currently has.

Early Access Review
Just dropped 40 hours into this game and my wallet's still not complaining. Sure, it's like Banished's younger cousin who's still figuring out its life, but hey, at least it knows how to throw a punch by adding combat into the mix. It's got the basics down, but I think maybe it's still discovering its signature move.

I usually side-eye early access games like they're trying to sell me a time-share in the desert. But city builders? They're like the comfy sweater of gaming. Will this one steal as many hours as Banished or even Cities: Skylines? Stay tuned. Right now, I'm juggling three settlements like a pro, but without more updates, I might have to start knitting or something.

Speaking of... ProTip™: Not every plot is meant to be farmed. If yours sucks for crops, either re-roll the map or learn how to use the trading mechanic.

A proper GOAT, not just GOTY.

Simply put (which is kind of rare for me, so, look, I've fixed it!), this is perhaps the best RPG of this type I've ever played.

Okay no, it /doesn't/ immerse me quite in the same way that Fallout 3 and 4 - or, to a lesser degree, The Witcher III - did, BUT, the game-play, the story paths with a world that really is reactive in a deep way to what you do, the level of detail, the mechanics that are a very faithful (for a video game) recreation of the D&D 5e mechanics, and on and on, all conspire to put this game on of the list of Greatest Of All Time.

Sadly, I doubt we'll see its like again any time soon. The next time we do, chances are it will be coming from Larian studios again, which means we have some while to wait. The best games are always done when they're done, and not when a publisher insists they need ROI today, come hell or high water. This was worth every bit of what I paid for it at full price of $60 USD.

Plenty of other people have left super-detailed reviews of this game - no need for me to do another. Instead I'll just say that I had about 20 hours of play before completing the game (on whatever the "easy" mode is) and I'm genuinely considering a replay, and not because I expect I'll make substantially different decisions: I simply enjoyed it enough (this isn't a common thing) to maybe go back and see if I can find some things I missed.

This was really well put together and FWIW I enjoyed the heck out of it. It's pretty heavy in spots, and I largely played it in spurts, with other games between, but if you like a good story, I'd recommend this one, ESPECIALLY on sale,

Okay, I REALLY LOVE THIS... AS DLC!

I picked up Shogun 2 for free for my oldest son on his Steam account during a giveaway some little while back. I've owned the base game and all of its DLC since it came out. Wanted to fire up a campaign with the kiddo and of course wanted to go FotS... and couldn't. So then I tried to go find the DLC to get for him, and... I find this nonsense?

Get bent, Sega / CA. After getting Shogun 2 for free, I would have happily bought him the DLC for $10, but frankly this is a dirty ploy - you *might* have gotten maybe $20 out of me by putting the base game *and* all the DLC on a decent sale instead of giving it away. And lets be honest, this really ought to be one of those cases where only the host needs to own the DLC.

Yes, I enjoy this content. Yes, I'm actually currently playing it again. The biggest downsides to it is how annoyingly tightly constrained the camera distance is to the maps, as compared to standard Shogun 2. But, $30 for a nine year old game, without major modification and improvements to performance, gameplay and graphical detail as a remaster or something? And it doesn't even include the base Shogun 2 campaigns? Ridiculous and unconscionable.

I really hate that I can't leave a positive review for this due solely to misbehavior by the developer and/or publisher.

Ignore the hate, look at reviews outside of Steam, or read the positive reviews of other players. Worth full price at $20? Maybe. Maybe not, depending on what you expect for that value. But on sale? Or if you're even a bit of an XCOM fan that would just like a bit of fun story? Certainly. I don't remember where or how I got this game, I'm thinking I got it as part of a bundle, but, having gone into it with no particular expectations, I can say I believe it has been totally worth my while to play.

Despite its age, this game somehow remains one of the best Tower Defense games out there, especially that allows for 4(+) player co-op play. Highly recommended if you've never played it - I just introduced my 6 y/o son to it, and had to buy another copy so we could play together, because he liked it so much and it's a better game than Dungeon Defenders 2 by a "country mile". Definitely worth the $15 even at its current base price, and even more so on sale with all the DLC.

I have very much enjoyed this game playing through the campaign with a friend, and am likely going to go back and play it solo just for fun - the DLC I've played so far has been fun too.

About the only thing I could ask for, offhand, would be a mode that's kind of "sim dungeon", but that's not a realistic ask or expectation, and is borne only from my love of city-builder and management games.

Dev's sense of humor is a little corny sometimes, even for me - and I was making dad jokes long before it (and I) was apparent - and once in a great while some of the dialogue or jokes fall a bit flat, but overall really, it's quite amusing to boot.

Absolutely one of my favorite games of all time.

Sadly, it is mostly unplayable in Win7 (and, as I understand it, 8 and 10). My last attempt at playing left my game in a state where my objective is to get to Rivet City, but the closer I get to it, the laggier and more crash-prone it becomes, to the point that, while in the area of the Washington Monument, if I even LOOK in the DIRECTION of Rivet City, the game crashes.

Recommended only for people on WinXP (or possibly Vista, which I have no experience with). HIGHLY recommended, but only on older, supported systems.

A little short... but awesome. Can't wait for the next episode!

Detective work was a big part, and was interesting and well done. Also, the decision making was fantastic, and at no point was it kind of irritating the way it got to be for me in The Walking Dead.

It seems they learned from TWD, and they didn't foist any of the "here's some choices, they all suck, none of them really cover all the options or what *I* would do (e.g., SPLIT the candy bar between the people who want it, not just give the whole thing to one person and make everyone else hate me), and they will all make things worse for you no matter what you do, because none of them are remotely the right thing, and you know it" - Telltale gave me more or less just the kind of choices I think Batman would at least consider doing, usuall one *I* think he would have chosen; I got to make my decisions on the fly, and they all seemed like the thing a bruce wayne / batman character would do/say, depending on the player's perception of who/what batman is.

I enjoyed the game play a good deal, I REALLY enjoyed the emphasis on the World's Greatest Detective aspect, and hope we get to see a lot more of it in future episodes.

If I have a complaint, it's only that Ep. 1 was a smidge too short... at least, considering that Ep. 2 hasn't released. I was hoping to binge on some Batman during my vacation, but it seems I'm already done.

Anyway, 10/10 for sure.
