Wholeheartedly worth its full price and worth your time. The narrative of Silent Hill 2 as a whole is a very unique one that has paved the way for the horror/survival-horror genre, one that will always remain difficult to successfully imitate or mimic due to its authenticity. It is straight up art, a game that is so hauntingly beautiful in both the visual and narrative sense as it covers the darker undertones of not only James' story, but Mary's / Maria's (in a sense), Angela, Eddie, and Laura. There is symbolism, metaphors, messages, anecdotes, etc. that help paint the overall pictures, and different perspectives of said pictures while also leaving certain details up to your creative interpretation.

Though I've only ever been able to watch game-play of a select few of the Silent Hill installments, it's important to note that I am no expert in every detail of the lore that is Silent Hill. I'm not entirely sure if my review would be a reliable one in terms of comparing it to its original, but all I can say is that both Bloober and Konami should be extremely proud.
The immersion you get from the environment, atmosphere, and ambiance puts you right back into the classic installment, perfectly capturing and making you re-experience the fear and dread you felt/feel from the original. For newer people experiencing this remake as their first Silent Hill game makes it even better as they're going to be, without a doubt, stuck in a state of constant paranoia and uncertainty. (Unless you're an absolute mental unit and know no fear.)

Everything is perfect in my opinion. Small iconic wardrobe changes, event changes, and the like do not negatively effect the outcome of the experience you'll have playing this game, and even then there are clever references to the obvious changes the developers made from the original. (It is still very enjoyable, old fan or new.) The immersion? Outstanding. Puzzles? Not too easy or too hard (depending on the difficulty you choose), The combat? Same as stated earlier, and honestly? I'm not sure if this is a hot take, but I actually liked the combat features.

However, it is important to note that people have their differing preferences, critiques, and nit-picks. Overall, if you are looking for a good horror game to fall into, this remake should become a top priority on your wishlist/to-do list. I promise you will not regret it.

Year is 1793, George Washington is currently president in this fictionalized story-- but he's also the president at the same time of standing in the same room as the painting: Saturn Devouring his Son (painted and depicted by Goya) which was painted 1819-23. George Washington died in 1799.

Immersion? Ruined.
