Bad item management, awful level design, and tedious gameplay rolled into a pretty package.

Months ago on a whim I bought ATOM, and it's turned into a game that just gets better every time I go back to it. AtomTeam completely re-balanced the combat, added more areas, and added quality of life updates that have turned an already good game into an outstanding one. There's still a few combat encounters that can be a bit frustrating even for long time RPG fans, but those are usually endgame tier fights that demand more strategy or use of stat altering items.

Also, here's another thing worth praising: AtomTeam did one thing that most other RPG developers can't seem to get right, and that's make an RPG that doesn't run like complete garbage in Unity. It loads quick enough and doesn't have weird memory issues that has plagued many other games in the genre.

Fallout fans that are looking for a game that actually gets the classic formula right; buy this, you won't regret it.

Alpha Proto-cool is an RPG made by Obsidian Entertainment (the guys who made the good Fallouts.) In this game you play as rookie spy Michael Thorton, international man of mystery and wearer of really bad beards.

Some people I know that have played this usually turn the game off at the beginning levels and never go back. The start in Saudi Arabia is drab, overly long, and almost pointless. It's one of the worst starting levels in video game history right next to Peragus in KOTOR 2... Which happens to be another Obsidian game. Imagine that. Overall, it's a poor first impression as a whole since it's mostly areas of stealth / combat with little skills usable.

Speaking of which, being a spy must have a low bar of entry in the United States because Mike starts out not being able to do much of anything, even aiming a gun is challenging for our poor boy. This is by design, much like the first Mass Effect you must train your skills as you play and also use your skills of persuasion to progress. You can befriend or make an enemy out of virtually the entire cast, use people, side with other splinter groups, make choices to shape your entire playthrough and Michael into a character you want him to be. There's even a New Game+ mode that turns our rookie spy into a seasoned veteran with completely new dialogue and even more game-changing choices.

Until recently, Sega was maybe the most bone-headed company in existence. Anything you saw of this game in an ad or trailer was painfully generic and awful, when in reality this was one of the most unique and replayable games of the era. And that's why people were turned off by it when it released (besides the average graphics,) Alpha Proto-cool is an RPG first and an action game second. Sega unknowingly was sitting on gold and didn't realize to try and market the game to actual RPG fans. And now you can't even buy this on Steam anymore because Sega's past incompetence has bled over into our present, it's pretty amazing really.

Have you ever wanted to spy on people, collect mountains of evidence against them for crimes they may (or may not) have committed, and generally be a total creeper online? Well look no further than Orwell, a game where you basically play as Edward Snowden's worst nightmare come to life.

It's not super complex, it's basically a visual novel with some computer UI prompts and branching choices depending on your actions (or inaction,) but it's a neat concept that is almost fully realized. Just wish this was longer, but there's DLC I might get on a whim one day.

Every year I get an urge to play this game again, and every time I reinstall it I have no idea what the hell is going on or what I'm doing. It's an endless cycle.

NBA 2k17 is the newest basketball game in the long running series by Visual Concepts.

There are several modes and something for mostly everyone who enjoys basketball. Such as MyCareer, an RPG mode where you play as a highly touted and scouted rookie who can barely dribble a basketball, who somehow winds up in the NBA. It's a real feel good story.

In MyGM mode you can manage your own team, while other GMs try to screw you over every chance they get. Don't worry, you can take your frustrations out on your loyal fans, and gouge them for everything; ticket prices, parking, even refreshments! A true to life basketball business simulation.

Or you can play online against other players in various modes, everyone will have mostly the same experience as the netcode hasn't been touched since the Dreamcast version of the series.

Overall, NBA 2K17 is the best basketball game on Earth, mostly by default.

Also gamers, don't forget to fuel up with Gatorade™ and MTNDew™, since the game will remind you every chance it gets.

Do you like cRPGs, talking to animals, and burglarizing entire towns? If you said yes to all of those, then this is the game for you!

The server browser and the netcode for this game is COMPLETELY BROKEN IN EVERY WAY POSSIBLE.

And even if by the grace of Allah you manage to connect to someone, YOU CAN'T EVEN PLAY A FULL MATCH AND STAY CONNECTED FOR MORE THAN A ROUND. BECAUSE THE NETCODE WAS MADE BY SOMEONE WHO PROBABLY PROGRAMMED IT TO WORK ON NETZERO VIA THE MSN GAMING ZONE, INSTEAD OF FUNCTIONING INTERNET CONNECTIONS IN THIS CENTURY.

Ok I'll keep this review short and sweet, this game has the theme to Burning Rangers in it. If this isn't enough to make you buy this game, then I don't know what to tell you. Maybe you're just casual scum who liked to watch the Saturn die.
