I've played a bunch of horror games, including Outlast (and whistleblower), Amnesia, FEAR + its expansions, FEAR 2, Doom 3, STALKER, Dead Space 1 + 2, Metro, and more. None were anywhere near as terrifying as this game. With very limited inventory space, the player is only able to carry 6 items at a time (which is brought down to 3 later in the game), the player is forced to carefully choose what is most important. You may need to give up certain items for keys and fuses needed to continue, like your bolt action sniper rifle or shotgun. Ammunition is very limited, to some weapons more than others. Along with careful inventory management comes health and stamina management. Health doesn't come back without morphine syringes, which will take up an inventory space, forcing the player to possibly have to sacrifice a valuable weapon for the mystical life juice. As for stamina, it recharges slowly and empties quickly when the player sprints or dodges. When it is depleted, the player moves much more slowly than usual until it starts to recharge. The player's cell phone is the only source of light to begin with. It must be out to use the light, so it can be dual wielded with a knife or baton, or a pistol. Two handed weapons like the sledgehammer or rifles cannot be used with it. Flares and lanterns with be needed at a certain point in the game. With all that being said, those already add a lot of tension to the game. The scenery is very well made, and the monsters are all disturbing and bizarre, as well as certain parts of the world space, not to mention the sounds heard from the monsters. Their screams are bloodcurling. Though when you follow through the story and think about it, everything has an answer. The music is incredible. It is either very somber and depressing, dark and foreboding, or fast-paced and terrifying. You will hear the sounds of certain monsters and shudder. Fear is not gore and shock value, nor is it a jumpscare or two. Fear is something much worse. It is something that lingers. Cry of Fear has its fair share of gore and jumpscares, though tha fantastic combination of sound, scenery, inventory management, music, etc. make an incredibly intense and terrifying experience. No game has ever scared me as much as this one. And its free too. Who can argue with that? If you haven't played this game before, you'll love Sawrunner.

I am really enjoying this so far. I'm up to "Ghosts" right now on Survival and Ranger modes. I've seen a couple of glitches like dead enemies getting a little stuck in a wall, but nothing serious or game-breaking. I have played the original 2033 and Last Light, and i must say the Redux version is quite an improvement. I'm also glad I can turn off the motion blur without lowering all the other settings. That always made me a little dizzy, so that's another plus. Stealth is greatly improved. So far I love it.
