I am writing this review after 100% Completion with 25.7 Hours Played*
No Spoilers.

Death’s Door is a game I picked up not entirely sure what I was getting into, just thinking “Oh it’s like Souls and Zelda with a crow.” I was wrong. I put it down after the first 3 hours because I was bad and not enjoying it yet, but after returning to the game I fell in love. The entire game is extremely well polished featuring a surprisingly engaging and interesting story full of memorable characters and dialogue that genuinely made me laugh out loud. The world building of Death’s Door was done extremely well with both all the necessary information being forced by the story, but answering all your questions through optional interactions and descriptions of the game’s collectibles “Shiny Things” (although many were not shiny). I found characters who had so much I wanted to learn about, and for some I got to see a lot of them and still wanted more. The story has a pretty satisfying end but still leaves a desire for more adventure. (More on this later)

Gameplay wise, Death’s Door is fantastic, the entire gameplay experience is super polished and you can tell a lot of love and care was put into this game. The mechanics are simple but demand mastery in order to succeed. Death’s Door is difficult, but never unfair, the only disadvantage you ever have is the choice to use the Umbrella, which has the “Academy of Umbrellas” Achievement tied to it which I had a great time earning, and really made me feel like a skilled assassin. But all the weapons were fun and had their own advantages. The abilities are made to be genuinely useful outside of opportunities where they are required, and their upgraded versions are even better at the cost of a challenging boss fight. Speaking of boss fights, the game’s boss fights are definitely the main draw of the game, at least for me. The bosses really have everything they need, cool arenas, reasons to fight, interesting character designs, amazing music. Mechanically they had challenging yet fair movesets, cool animations and the game always felt fair. While you will fight a lot of the simple enemies and mini-bosses, the boss fights in this game are fantastic!

The post-game content of Death’s Door is plentiful and also reveals the “true ending” of the game, or rather exposition and resolution to the story you just went through, offering even more bosses, puzzles, and lore, a lot of lore, all connecting to that final ending, but it would be a disservice to spoil that, for anyone. I would say the post game makes the game worth 100% Completing.

Overall this game is a well-polished adventure that will demand mastery of its mechanics, then sit you down and make you laugh at dialogue, and still make you feel some strong emotions as you say goodbye to some of these characters because, after playing through the game, you get attached to them.
