Man I really really want to recommend this game because it is so in depth and fun but the problem is after the novelty wears off the game has a bunch of glaring problems. The main issue is that instead of challenging and rewarding the game is impossible (quite literally in this particular sense).

Personally, I enjoy city builders and games like this because I like to make something steadily grow to eventually flourish and IXION has such a great concept for this, a space station flying around rebuilding humankind through colonies like a massive ark the last hope of humanity being held together through sheer human ingenuity and spirit! However, the devs seemed to have put a little too much faith in that because the space station that according to the intro was designed to be this ark is made of paper mache. The hull taking damage makes sense as in space even a grain of sand can be a bullet if its travelling fast enough and there is tons of stuff flying around like hail in space but consuming a building material seems a bit strange to me as I feel like it would make more sense for the EVA to use something like a welder to weld or fix any damage to the exterior hull. The second thing that affects station durability is expanding... yeah, opening the blast doors to another section affects the EXTERNAL hull despite the outside being unchanged since nothing was added only accessed. The final part of station durability is that the game pushes you to move the station all the time to keep exploring and searching for habitable planets to set up colonies but the issue with that is that every jump PERMANENTLY damages the hull making the already paper thin hull even MORE rickety and at that point its only a matter of time till its game over so it just feels like a whole exercise in futility because whats the point of having a mobile station to build up in a CITY BUILDER if you cant even move it without everything coming crashing down, it really ruined the entire purpose of the game for me.

The other issue with the game in my opinion is that the whole cryopod system makes absolutely no sense. In IXION cryopods are your main source of settlers/crew but they are split between workers and non workers (along with a third called colonists though colonists have to be trained in a special building) but you have no control over which of the two you will get and it seems (atleast in my experience) to be heavily leaning towards non-worker as 7/10 of them were non workers which, as the name implies, arent added to your workforce AKA freeloaders, bums, no hands more mouths, and all in all just not useful when youre trying to keep everyone alive on your flying junk heap. It would make more sense that there are specific TYPES of people such as skilled or not-skilled which would help bump certain building types efficiency up based on how many of said people are in each sector possibly even more so when the section becomes specialized maybe even throw in a debuff for having specialists of a "conflicting" type (like space and waste or agriculture and industry). The main issue is that if you are one of a select few who survived and are flying through space on a degrading lemon of a ship wouldnt you do everything you can to help even if you might not be GOOD at something? Instead of having nonworkers why not train some workers to become colonists and THEN those colonists can laze about until getting to a planet where you can set them down otherwise everyone has to pitch in to live.

Now I will say the game does have a lot going FOR it. The story is fantastic and the cut scenes are really well done. I really like the idea of a lone space station flying through the vast sea of stars to try to find a good planet to set up colonies (could even make a sequel game based around one of those colonies) while trying to keep itself flying as best it can and evolving as it explores. The research being done through expeditions was a really fresh and interesting way of doing it. However, despite it all its just not worth the price and I cant recommend it because its just a bunch of really cool ideas poorly executed as it is now but I would like to see some things changed if possible and if that happens I might be able to give it a thumbs up but for now, in my opinion, skip it and play something else.

Devs dont listen to their community and went against their entire playerbase when they told them an update is a bad idea since this game is primarily built on player generated content/mods and instituted Easy Anti Cheat which can brick your PC since its a terrible anticheat. For a game built around making a giant community MAYBE the devs shouldnt have made an update that had literally no support from the community that plays their game...

The game had an incredibly rocky start and was completely overhyped for a VERY incomplete game. Come 2021 and they have done MORE than was asked and the game has become unrecognizable from its original state and become something great with all of the many FREE updates the devs have put out to truly flesh out and improve the game, its a shame that not many game devs do as much as these guys have to essentially rebuild their game into a real gem.

I love space engineers and have spent over 300 hours playing it. I am extremely happy with what they have done to offer a way to keep supporting them. I think its fantastic that its priced as it is. I want to talk about the negative reviews for the DLC because as it stands all im seeing is a broken record of people claiming "it should have been free," or "other people should be able to use the dlc too." The whole point of the DLC is to keep supporting keen it is all non-essential decor and a different looking cockpit design. If your friends you play with cant afford a $4 support-the-dev pack then just use the default cockpits or buy it for them as a gift if its that important and stop whining. The whole point of this DLC is as an optional "thanks for your continued support" pack.
100/10 would support keen further

Great game very interesting concept and very fun but the controls are a little weird and there is somewhat limitied replayability because it doesnt have multiplayer yet. Overall, very good game maybe a little over priced for how much is on it now.

I like this game its a great prospect but lacking in a few areas 1. after building a base theres not much to do other than explore. 2. needs more story but the story they have now is pretty good for a start. 3. bit lonely they need co-op play. Some of what they did good is 1. alot of diversity with flora and fauna. 2. realistic designs for fish and plants (for the most part) 3. attractive terrain design. all aside i recommend this game with a score of 7.8/10

Great game, bit hard to get into at first with just a knife and a 4 barrel gun but after its a very fun game. You will die . . . alot but players have an arsenal of weapons to fight with so im going to share a few pros, cons, and tips.
pros:
+Nice performance, pretty much grab and go unless you want lower graphix and maybe a bit faster gameplay (made no difference for me).
+Very good models/animation. Alot of work went into the animations and models, you can tell they were made with love <3.
+Guns work great and are very cool and realistic.
+Great maps.
+fun game

cons:
-Start a little under equiped.
-Can seem like its geared towards the sharks sometimes.(its not)
-lag can make it impossible to play.

Tips:
1. If you are having trouble with spears or harpoons? use a net gun+harpoon combo or use a submachine gun.
2. try to pick your shark while thinking of the map + personal preferance (personally i am a fast placed player i like the mako or thresher shark)
3. If your aiming reticle is sliding around go into options and turn of mouse acceleration (might not be called that its labeled though :))
4. aiming down your sights allows you to move your gun faster.

I dont really like the game as it is, its to vanilla when you start and you only start out with a few blocks wood, stone, nature tabs and theres only about 5 each. "ok well are there other blocks you can get? Yes there different blocks!!! oh, wait you have to buy them with coins and only for 1 day, 5 days, and permanant? ok i will get them permanently. . . hmm thats alot of coins for it though 2000+. Ok well i just need to get more coins! but. . . how do i get coins? *check settings* theres no controls list??? ok maybe they have them on the screen. . . no still no list? odd well i guys i will just ask around. . . wait why are so many people talking in russian? ok well i guess i will find out. . . *goes into my worlds* wait. . . i have to spend gold to have my world??? hmm ok #worthit i guess right? *spawns in* ok now now im in my world wait how do i control things again? oh right i dont know." and scene so yeah you dont really know any key bindings or anything when you get in and is more of a pay to play type deal, im sorry I cannot recommend this game.
