this is a really chill and fun game to come play when getting off work. its in no way rage inducing like you see with other games, and i never find myself stressed or angry after a couple hours playing.

Hotline Miami is a fast-paced top-down shooter game. Its style is very unique as it only takes one hit from anything to kill you. This forces you to think fast and think critically, as there are ways to kill people without guns (which attract lots of attention in the game).

You’re forced to make each of your steps- or anything you do for that matter- purposeful. Purpose and precision is the main importance of this game.

Its simplistic graphics giving it the ability to run on any machine, attractive and easy to pick up controls, and unique style makes this indie gem of a game stand out amongst the rest. There is a heavy reliance on mechanic skill, but never enough to feel arduous. The absence of loading screens creates a very steady flow throughout the game, and as you play (and inevitably fail) you see yourself improve.

The strange cutscenes between missions after rampaging through buildings like a madman raise more questions than answers but feel at home within the already fast-paced “don’t ask just shoot” style of this game.

Hotline Miami does, however, keep you on your toes. Enemies do have randomized paths and weapons, forcing you to take different routes and look for other ways to get through.

Overall, this game, with its 1980s inspired aesthetic, soundtrack, and fast-paced get in and get out missions is a must-play and a future classic.
