Early Access Review
While obviously in early access and could use some end game content and refinement, I am quite enjoying what The Forever Winter has to offer, and I've only been able to play solo for now.

The atmosphere is top notch, the art style is amazing, the music and world building feels like a tactical extraction shooter set in the Elden Ring universe. I find myself staring into the distance in awe trying to figure out what that building used to be, or was intended to be.

And while the game can be easy in some moments, one ♥♥♥♥ up and you could lose a lot. I find myself saying over and over "just one more run". Even if I have a path, even if I know the layout, even if I know what enemies could be there, one little change could make that run go belly up.

While I don't appreciate game mechanics that happen while I'm not playing the game and still hope they tweak the water mechanics, I haven't seen that be an issue currently for active players.

I enjoy this experience a lot, and can't wait to see what Fun Dog Studios has in store for us going forward.

*** ORIGINAL REVIEW BELOW. DEMOCRATIC UPDATE TRANSMISSION INCOMING***

Sony has listened to the fans and are no longer making the PSN linking mandatory. Thank you for listening to your community. Thank you for listening to what PC users want, and what we want is a few barriers to play fun games.

Arrowhead, keep this train going. Your game has been amazing and has made me excited to play with friends again. Don't let this experience sour the fan-base, we were here for you and enjoying what you made for us.

FOR SUPER EARTH!

Sony, this is just such a poor business decision. Why would you take months to suddenly spring this kind of thing on a community that has already been praising your game, getting their friends to buy copies, and making Microsoft beg at your feet to get in on the action?

This is the most asinine, ill-thought-out, poorly conceived, change I have ever seen in a video game, and I used to play ETF, and I just spent a whole day fixing what Bethesda broke in a "next-gen update". Hell, I play Starfield.

I even linked my PSN. Voluntarily, because I like those features. But that should never be mandatory unless its day 1. Months later? After building up such good relations with the community? I don't know what anyone there was thinking.

And to then double down, and change your FAQ on your website? To not have a process for those who already bought your game in regions were PSN isn't available. It makes no sense.

This move lacks foresight, disregards player's investment in not only time, but money if they bought supercredits, and undermines the positive rapport built with this wonderful community. Sony if you don't swiftly rectify this blunder and prioritize customer satisfaction, you risk alienating this player base completely. Letting an amazing game and studio take a massive hit.

It's like Life is Strange Diet
Not major events nothing ground breaking. It's like American Truck Simulator with a little story. With is being the 80's you would think there would be some awesome 80's music vibes, but its mostly country/indie vibes.
The game feels like a bunch of incomplete ideas that come together to form a semblance of a game. It's enjoyable but it's nothing to write home about. It's almost like they ran out of money or time and they weren't able to complete a lot of it.
It's still a complete adventure. But it's almost like you're going to Denny's to get a steak instead of like Longhorn

Classic tactical shooter with all the smoothness of a AAA title. Its old, but in my opinion it still holds up. The FOV is a little tight, but there's a mod to fix that. Not as sim as ARMA but not as linear as COD, seems like a good balance to me.
