I don't usually ever review DLC, but I just have to say this is the best DLC paradox has made in years for any game.

I'm editing my review after a hundred hours. I originally reviewed this on launch day in 2022, and I had nothing but good things to say about it.

Multiple months later, I still have nothing but good things to say about it. As expected, devs patched a lot of issues and introduced or fixed some minor features that add more flavor to the game.

This game is not for hardcore paradox traditionalists who will do nothing but cry and complain that this isn't a modernized and updated direct copy of Victoria 2. This is a great game. The economy is good, the warfare system is UNIQUE and engaging and interesting if you have an open mind, and it still comes with all of the politics, economics, and power-balancing you dealt with in Vic 2, without the endless and ungodly rebel spam manifesting out of nowhere and what amounts to, in my opinion, a more detailed and dynamic population than what you received in Vic 2.

Love the institutions feature as a way to build and expand upon laws. It's not just something you pass and then wait a decade for your literacy to go up 30%. It has real investment mechanics that are intertwined with so much else in the game.

Everything is a balancing act, and a mighty fine one at that. Some people might not like how the economy works, how warfare works, or anything like that. It's why I say if you're a hardcore paradox traditionalist who thinks the last generation of games did it best, stay away and leave this game to the rest of us who enjoy it. I am personally excited for the modding community to take off with things like VFM (Vic 3's HFM) and whatnot, and for the content that will be added to the game in the future.

This game really does not deserve the mixed reviews.

HOI4 is probably the most overrated Paradox game of all time. March of the Eagles has more in-depth focus than this.

Warband has that kind of tug on a player whether you're playing singleplayer, multiplayer, or with gunpowder mods like L'aigle that pulls you in for more. Warband is a game that you can easily get addicted on and stay addicted for a long time. I enjoy every ounce if it.

Kerbal Space Program provides both funny cartoony actions and sounds, with realism and freedom. The game cannot get any better, especially with mods.

A game where two or more militaries duke it out on bad-ass battlefields taking place all across the world, where you see your troops advancing through hundreds of thousands of bullets flying through the air, creating a future national monument in your country's capital about that moment. Download modern mods (red rising reccomended) and have BTRs and jets invade forts and intercept convoys, all while pressing Ctrl+Alt+Shift+D to hide the in-game UI and then sitting back with a hot cup of freshly made apple cider while you watch the best battle scene of your whole life unfold right before your eyes.

Love the game. Especially Red Rising Mod.

Now, don't get me wrong. This game is incredible. I've played it since before it was even on steam. I love everything about this game.

That is, until Paradox acquired it.

The moment Paradox bought this game, they added their incredibly ♥♥♥♥♥♥ and buggy launcher, and now I cannot run this game for more than five minutes without it crashing. The more prisoners, the more frequent the crashes. Additionally, they've already begun milking it for all the money it's worth by releasing ♥♥♥♥♥♥, unnecessary DLC and undermining the game as a whole. They're absolutely destroying this game, and I hate it.

I love Paradox, but they should've kept their grubby, greedy little paws off of this game. Shame on them.

If you want to play Prison Architect, I recommend finding a version of this game prior to when Paradox acquired it. It'll be much, MUCH more enjoyable, even without access to the wonderful modding community here on steam.

I am only downvoting this because of Paradox's ♥♥♥♥.
