Mechabellum is an auto battler that has the feel of classic RTS's like StarCraft and Command & Conquer, both in terms of visual style and unit design. It has a wide variety of units with varying strengths and weaknesses, and they all have a bunch of abilities of which you can pick a few to be purchasable in game. There are also various special abilities & bonuses you can buy between each round which add depth to the game.

I can’t comment on the high level balance I don’t know how healthy the metagame at the top of the ladder is but from my dabbling in ranked 1v1 I found the games to be fun and varied and I won about half my ranked 1v1 games, so the match making worked fine.

Theres no single player campaign which may be disappointing to some people but its not a $70 game so as long as you know what kind of thing you're purchasing I think its ok.

There are one vs ai and co-op vs ai modes which are fun and are pretty good for practice.

I haven't played any other standalone auto battlers, so I’m not qualified to compare. However; like I imagine quite a few people who have picked up this game I have played a lot of Starcraft II and this game feels like a better version of some of the auto battler arcade games on there.

Well worth the full price of 5 USD to dramatically expand the scope of what you can do with your desktop background.

It even has achievements.

In the spring of 2008 I built my first gaming PC.

An Intel Q6600 and TWO Nvidia 9800 GX2's. That's 4 CPU cores and FOUR GPUs. We're talking 512MB of GDDR3 RAM for each GPU, 4 GB of system memory and a 10,000 RPM WD Raptor 150GB HDD. Oh baby.

I wasn't making much money; just irresponsible, and I had to play Crysis.

Well Crysis brought it to its knees. No game has ever been as far ahead of its time in terms of graphics, (and horsepower demands). I'll never forget seeing the first time I saw the first human character up close in the second shot of the game, or the sunrise scene, and then reloading, turning up the settings to max and walking up the hill and seeing the scene again, this time at 5 FPS.

One thing I never got is why I kept reading things like "yeah Crysis is basically just a tech demo its not actually a good game"

Did people play it? Its a 7/10 or maybe 8/10 game gameplay wise for its time, the suit abilities were very fun and added a lot of versatility to the gameplay, the destructible buildings were amazing at the time, and the gun-play was very solid. The enemies also had some of the better A.I. from games from that time.

The story is just sci-fi tv-movie pulp but whatever. The main character is super boring but the other character did have some personality.

Its true the later part of the game doesn't shine as strong as the first half or so but its still enjoyable. The flying sections are derided but I don't remember hating them, although they aren't a highlight.

Crysis is an excellent game and a landmark in the history of PC gaming.

I like the Need For Speed but not the Hot Pursuit.

As a casual arcade racer fan I think its a solid game. It is from 2010 but i think the graphics are not bad. The driving is fun, its got plenty of cool cars and the drifting is easy.

Playing as the cops, and running from the cops isn't very fun for me. I still played the levels and finished the game I just don't find the mechanic that fun.

Granted "Hot Pursuit" is in the title so this is kind of like that meme:

Bag in fridge is labeled: "dead dove do not eat". Man opens bag anyways, sees dead dove and says "I don't know what I expected"

It's a good game I just like making the cars go vroom.

Prodeus is an all around solid boomer shooter. The visuals are its outstanding trait. You can quickly see that in the trailer so there no much to say about it. It's pretty.

The combat, guns, enemies and levels are all good without too much to complain about. It's all influenced by DOOM which is fine but in terms of the enemies and guns a little too much. The game feels somewhat generic.

The no-punishment respawn feature is a strange choice and makes the higher difficulties maybe kind of pointless. I think its unfortunate that it lacks a horde mode like many shooters have, or any other extra other game mode. It also lacks Steam Cloud support.

Overall its worth the time investment for how well it looks and plays but its forgettable with some flaws. Prodeus isn't really any better than modded classic DOOM (e.g. Brutal Doom, Project Brutality) except maybe in visuals, so I don't think its worth paying too much for. At time of writing I see it discounted to 15 USD which isn't too bad.

This is one of those games where I can sum up my feelings with "its good".

It's not groundbreaking or extraordinary in any single way, however all of it is perfectly competent. As someone with a casual interest in Warhammer 40,000 and retro shooters I found it to be a solidly enjoyable experience.

It wont be remembered as a classic however if you like the idea of "retro shooter where you're an Ultramarine" I don't really think you would be disappointed in the game, at least as long as the price you pay is right. I paid $14.29 USD + Tax for this in 2024 and I feel that was worth it for the ~15 hours I've played it.

This is no longer for sale, so writing reviews is sort of pointless, but this is one of the greatest shooters of all time. Some of us may lament the dearth of modern Arena Shooters, but at least we got UT04 and Quake 3 Arena and those are pretty fantastic as it is.

I was never much good at this game but its still fun to reinstall and play a few games against bots occasionally.

Gameplay, guns, levels, vehicles, game modes, bots (and 8 options for difficulty), pretty much everything was great. Masterpiece.

Say what you want about Jar-Jar and Midichlorians but Episode 1 gave us STAR WARS(TM) Episode I Racer. I have fond memories of playing this in my friends basement on Nintendo 64 a quarter-century ago, maybe nostalgia is a factor here but I honestly think this is a pretty decent and original racing game. This being on PC isn't new because I remember playing it at some point in the 2000's but I'm glad to see they finally added it to Steam.

The game has a variety of pods to use, all the ones from the film I assume. As well as a good set of levels and an upgrade system that's nothing sophisticated but does add to the game. It's pretty good though if you don't have nostalgia for the game itself or at least for the first time you saw the podrace scene in episode one there not a huge reason to play this over other racing games. I think the full price of 10 USD might be a bit much its more of a 5 dollar game at this point.

HROT is a all around solid boomer shooter with a distinct, gloomy and bleak art style. It does at first seem to be a very serious dark game but gradually a silly and dark sense of humor comes out.

the combat is crisp and quick. Guns and movement feel like classic shooter gameplay, sort of an arena shooter feel.

The only thing about it that I didn't enjoy as much as I kept getting stuck as to where to go in levels. I felt that were too mazelike for my preference. To be fair; some people like that challenge and I'm a dummy, so its not that I'm saying the level design is bad.

If you like retro shooters and like the look of the game from the steam page I really don't think you will be disappointed.

As i write this its marked down from 20 USD to 10 USD. It's not unreasonable at $20 but definitely worth it at $10.
